The Brook Kitchen & Tap — Restaurant in Holbrook

Let me start with this; I enjoyed my meal, and parts of my family's meal. The food was solid and the beer was cold. That being said, we were seated at a table just on the edge if the bar area. Beyond there being a couple ridiculously loud patrons yelling and singing at a group of girls they knew across the bar (that no one stopped them from doing despite obviously glares from other patrons), there was not an overly loud or disturbing volume level in this area. The management and waitresses were kind and checked on us. The bartender was unfortunately a bit awkward for handing a family order. I trusted that he would have written down our order but it was clear that his memory didn't serve him as well as he believed when he messed up 3 out of the 5 orders we placed. 4 of us got the Brook Platter, one of us got the haddock. Fish came out good, platter not so much. The meat was NOT as much as stated on the menu. They claimed a HALF POUND of EACH boneless tenders and steak tips. It was maybe close to a half pound together. On top of that, they could not cook any of the meat to the ordered temperature, and they were tiny steak tip bites. Onion rings were average as was the slaw. Fries were soggy. One order came out with rice that no one ordered, another with honey hot sauce that was supposed to be Honey BBQ sauce. The dry rub for the chicken tasted like a powder seasoning rather than a read dry rub, would recommend the sauce instead. One was supposed to be very well and came out medium. The steak was cooked all across the board, as I said no consistency. Even after manager came over to apologize to our complaint, the additional 3 steak tips he brought over were still not well, they were medium. Very well does not mean just char the outside and leave the inside pink. Last I was here I had a better experience than this time. Fortunately the manager did seem to come by and check on our status so we do appreciate that. I went there on a Friday evening with a friend for a couple of drinks and an appetizer the place was absolutely dead it was around 5 5:30 p.m. we put in our drinks about 7 or 8 minutes later we got our drinks we put in for our appetizers and literally it was about 20 minutes before we saw appetizers. So we start eating not even five minutes later our waitress comes over and says we're not kicking you out but I wanted to know if you could cash out because I'm leaving and the next shift is coming in. I understand that the waitress was trying to get credit for the sale and the tip but the fact that your restaurant was absolutely dead you shouldn't have had that waitress when she was leaving so soon take our table because we were going to order food after our appetizers but since the waitress came over and basically kind of rushed us because she was in a rush put a bad taste in my mouth. I loved this place when it was the halfway Cafe but whoever took over management you need to understand that your customers are supposed to be priority not the employees who have to rush out of there because their shift is over, I will never return to this place also for the simple fact that I used my debit card at this restaurant and it's been 4 days since I've been there and they've yet to process the money that I paid for my beers & appetizers you need to get a new Financial system cuz that is absurd that you take four days to process a debit...

Genuinely had the worst experience here out of anywhere I have ever dined. I have worked in the service industry for 10 years now so I know I do tend to be a little judgmental however this takes the cake. The bartender was absolutely MISERABLE. Least welcoming bar I’ve ever walked into. She gave us attitude once we began ordering since we did not separate out appetizers from our meals. (Mind you she did not check on us from the time she dropped our drinks off until 15 minutes after). I am unsure if the manager was helping behind the bar or if it was the other bartender. The appetizers finally came out in which had to wait again another 5 minutes to even ASK for plates and silverware. Never checked to see how those were going, cleared my boyfriend’s soup bowl and kept walking. The food then came out and she said the plates were hot (shocker since she rang in our meals at the same time as the appetizers so they probably sat under the heat lamp). Meanwhile the other gentleman working behind the bar was COMPLAINING that they had a rush before the current crowd got here (literally 21 customers in the entire establishment). Anyways highly disappointed that I spend my night off to come out to dinner which I do think my group tends to be prime candidates for customers (drinks, apps, meals, desserts and NORMALLY a 30% tip!) safe to say I have been here many times before however this whole experience has turned me away from ever...
