Pizzeria Tasso has become a regular stop for us. We’ve come here at least once a month for the last year.
It’s hard to find any pizza joint in Salt Lake that comes close to the value. Great Neapolitan-style pizza, relatively fast service, and fair prices.
The Holy Trinity, as I call it.
The ingredients feel fresh, the taste and texture is great, and they always serve you with a smile as warm as their pizza.
The Margherita pizza is our go-to, but I also highly recommend the Diavola, the Garlic Cheese Sticks, any of the Dessert Pizzas, and whatever they’re doing for the Pizza of The Week.
We’ve been coming here long enough to have had 1 or 2 mediocre experiences. Don’t let it deter you if your first visit wasn’t what you hoped for. It was probably an anomaly and your next visit will be great.
Also, if you don’t like Neapolitan-style pizza… don’t come here. If you want some cake-like crust and tasteless plastic cheese, there is a Dominoes and a Lil Caesars close by. But if you want a legit pizza with real ingredients that won’t leave you feeling like a beached whale, then make a visit. I promise it’s worth it.
One note to the restaurant: PLEASE PUT THE PEPE ON YOUR REGULAR MENU! Please! I’m begging. It’s the best pizza you’ve ever made, and only having access to it everyone once in a while hurts me on the insides and the outsides. Please, for all that is Italian and bene in this world, make it a...
Read moreUnique New restaurant with great potential. Walking in to Pizzeria Tasso, you can tell the restaurant is new. It's a bit difficult to find (placed behind another restaurant), the walls are a bit bare, and there's a small echo without too many people inside. Tasting the food, however, you know the staff are not new to food. The pizzas are fantastic, with a variety of tastes. We tried the diavola and pepperoni pizzas, as well as the gelato and garlic cheese bread. The diavola had a unique taste - slightly spicy and somewhat sweet. The pepperoni had one of the best tastes of any pepperoni pizza I've ever had. By the time I finished the Diavola, I wished I had more pepperoni. Both had great crispy crusty, which extended farther into the pizza center than most other pizzas. We really enjoyed the garlic cheese bread. It seemed plentiful with olive oil, and just the right amount of garlic flavor: not overpowered, but still Central to the flavor. The Gelato was fantastically smoothe. We got both strawberry and salted caramel. I prefer sweets and thoroughly enjoyed the salted caramel. The strawberry, was wonderful as well! It tasted like fresh strawberries had been pulverized for the treat that day. Overall, a great place. I'm excited to see...
Read moreBest Neapolitan pizza in the valley that is comparable and maybe even better than settebello. It’s a hidden gem that has some of what I imagine to be truly authentic Italian pizza. The sauce actually tastes like something with substance, the toppings are exactly how you want it, and the crust is phenomenal - perfectly soft where it should be and crispy where it needs to be. The diavola is my favorite next to the margarita.
Atmosphere is fine, don’t really care too much about it when I’m eating some of the best pizza in the state. Service is also fine, staff are nice and helpful; basically all you would need.
One note during my experience was that there was a group of young teens sitting next to my booth. First they spilled a drink on the floor leaking into my area, then they were messing around and shot a nerf dart into my booth. I have now stolen their dart and hope they are still wondering where that dart went. I want the teen who shot it to stay awake each night and wonder where it could have possibly gone because he was searching everywhere. He seemed absolutely ecstatic about his new gun. Shame he is one dart short now.
Either way, pizza is really good - hours are wonky but it’s worth...
