Deboer Bakkerij South — Restaurant in Holland

de Boer’s Bakkerij South is the best in many different categories. The donuts and pastries are top tier in West Michigan. All of their baked goods are made fresh each day but go quickly because they do sell out. Some of my favorite donuts include the Birthday Cake Donut, Blueberry Blizzard, and Maple Bacon. When it comes to pastries the Sugared Almond Sticks are by far one of best creations from any bakery I’ve been to. Another category de Boer’s south has nailed down is the food. For breakfast you cannot go wrong with the Chorizo breakfast sandwich it’s good enough to fill you up until dinner time. For lunch I absolutely love their fried chicken tenders. The tenders themselves are so light and crispy with great flavor. Any of the rubs are a great choice but my favorite is the Nashville Hot. All in all de Boer’s South is your one stop shop to satisfy many needs and cravings. However this review would not be complete without mentioning the exceptional customer service that is provided at this establishment. If you’ve never been please go it’s certainly 5-Star...

I visited deBoer’s on a Friday morning a little after 7:30 am. (Note they open at 7 am. ) So early enough to where the doughnuts and pastries should have been freshly made that morning. I don’t eat doughnuts or pastries often, but when I do I expect them to be fresh and quality. Everyone around Holland has talked this place up like it’s the best they’ve ever had. So naturally this being my first time having deBoer’s my expectations are very high. Unfortunately I was very disappointed. I ordered a medium coffee and the barista didn’t even fill it up all the way, left about an inch and a half of room and I didn’t ask for room for cream. But hey there’s still the doughnuts right? I ordered a long John, maple bacon, salted Carmel and chocolate fried cinnamon I believe it was. I get home to try the doughnuts and NONE OF THEM WERE FRESH. They were clearly leftover from the previous day. I was shocked…based off this experience I will not be visiting deBoer’s again and won’t be able to talk it up like everyone else in...

Love and hand-bread chicken tenders, homemade dipping sauces, and fresh cut fries! Others must have caught on because they have upped the price a few bucks, which is a bummer because they were perfectly priced for us before. We probably won’t be back as often now. We tried a side of mac and cheese last time (the loaded mac sounded tempting but we had already ordered plenty) and we did not love it. Dry, not very hot or even warm, and not a ton of flavor. But they also have Hudsonville ice cream and you can make your own ice cream sandwich and pick different cookies. The baked goods always get us, and we can’t leave without getting something for later. This past time was the French toast donut... it was absolutely amazing!! I would recommend going to try one of the many homemade treasures...
