Cali Coffee — Restaurant in Hollywood

I used to work at Memorial Regional Hospital, one highway exit away from Cali Coffee, and many coworkers were obsessed with the coffee from here. I can’t tell you how many times I saw someone walking into their shift clutching a humongous iced coffee emblazoned with the CALI COFFEE font, or how many times someone has elicited cheers for bringing a tray of ordered Cali Coffees to the workstation. I got it once in a group order but felt my iced coffee was watered down and not very flavorful. But it’s always worth an in person visit to try again.

I just went by the location for the first time because I needed 1. A pit stop for my car to cool down, and 2. A coffee moment. The bright blue signage of their logo is unmistakable and a fun characterization of the concept of the coffee shop. The drive-thru moves really quickly as does the walk up counter. I’m used to being ignored by a counter for 10 minutes before I can place an order, but a staff member immediately greeted me and waited for my order. I had to tell her that I just started looking at the menu and couldn’t decide what to get. During the minute I was looking, a girl walked up to the counter and ordered right away. You can tell that there are diehard fans who know exactly what their usual order is. The menu is blown up next to the order counter so there is no way you miss anything on it. They have non-coffee drinks like caffeinated fruit fusions and shakes, as well as a couple snacks of muffin tops and cake pops. Honestly, I respect that they don’t try to make a food menu because it maintains their focus on the drinks.

I was able to get an iced cookies and cream coffee—-sugar free! They have sugar free syrup available which makes me happy, since I usually avoid flavored coffee drinks because of the sugar that goes into them. The crumble cookie whipped topping and drizzle are extra, as well as substituting for non-dairy milk. I would say you don’t need those unless you really want a ‘grammable drink. The coffee was flavorful with just enough sweetness. There were bits of cookie crumbs mixed in which made it fun to drink. Why one star for overall review.?Yet five stars for food,service,atmosphere? Because there was male inside the preparation area that was facilitating a drink. He then disappeared from view and a female appeared in the preparation area. The female was helping facilitate an order.Then the the male reappeared holding a dog! Neither the female nor the male washed their hands. Never mind the dog hair on their clothing. A dog in the preparation area?! He proceeded to gather a few cups all the while holding on to the dog. The male was helping to facilitate an order. When I inquired about this observation to the female serving me. This was her reply. "It's OK this side is closed." I get it. It has now become common place to see animals where they don't belong. It's become accepted behavior. Accepted or not It's wrong. Pets should remain in their place. Some might offer up that there is medical necessity required. I was careful to observe that neither the dog nor the male were in fact wearing any type of ID to indicate medical awareness. I like Cali Coffee. However I will no longer patronize them. Edit September 1 2023. No worries. All the animal people will now flock to your location. Your business should pick up substantially once they see this review. So funny story on my app it shows i’ve been a customer since 2018 even though I just started coming last year in January after my best friend who at the time was my co worker brought me what i would come to know as the fuel to my day. Come to find out i’ve been getting fruity drinks since 2018! Everytime i come here or the one in Pembroke Pines i’m greeted with warm welcomes and happy energy. I’m NEVER disappointed with the service and good i receive, I wasn’t a coffee person before but i’ve always been a tea person (sweet tea for dayssss) however Cali changed that! I’ve tried almost everything on the menu and as new things come out i give it a try! So here are my recommendations so far: Coffee: Baywatch (coconut and white chocolate) add allll the fix ins cold foam, carmel drizzle and white chocolate drizzle Also try any of the coffees Cali style :extra flavor shot and espresso shot Non coffee drinks: literally ANY i’m a little biased but the blue raspberry and strawberry (Galaxy) or even the dragon fruit and mango (Mermaid) are my favorite to get as lemonades or a mix of green team AND black tea i’ve gotten these drinks iced but my favorite is to get them frozen
