This place is AMAZING. I had 8 hours to pass before my flight from FLL and I figured a museum would be a good way to go! I know very little about art, but enjoy it very much, so this seemed like a good spot.
I cannot overstate how lucky I was to find this place! Apparently, the WMODA is the largest collection of ceramics and glass under one roof in the entire US! I had no idea I was a fan of decorative arts until I visited this museum. The amazing history of different studios and their differentiating techniques, styles, and colors was all very accessible and engaging.
What really brought it home for me was the people. I cannot believe how excited the employees were to talk about the art and show me around. THREE SEPARATE PEOPLE came up to me to talk about the art or the history or life. And not in an annoying or intrusive way! They saw I enjoyed the art and improved my experience greatly.
The ground floor is an auction house and free to peruse. Amazing people there as well, and full of fossils, art pieces, and cars.
This lovely place is an essential trip of any art lover's Ft. Lauderdale experience and is only $10 for entry, and FREE...
Read moreWow, who knew we had a first class fired art museum right here in Dania? No one I've been telling about it.
I am a huge Chihuly fan so that alone would have made me happy. But wait until you see the Ardmore collection. I had never seen this work before and knew nothing about it. It is stunning and the story is amazing. Don't look it up just go and see it for yourself. This art needs to be experienced not googled.
And thank you Arthur Wiener for sharing your passion with the rest of us. If this is the stuff you don't want to see everyday, I can't imagine the pieces you do need to see everyday.
Just visited the museum again in the new location. Really setup nicely again. Also a bit out of the way in the warehouse district, but still amazing to see the Chihuly, Ardmore and local talent like Rob Stern on display. Expertly curated and there always things happening. If you are visiting don’t miss this hidden gem. And you locals get out and support this museum that is worthy enough to be in...
Read moreA wonderful, carefully curated, fine art museum featuring glass and ceramic works from many talented artists. This museum is also a non-profit. So many pieces of beauty wonderfully displayed. This is definitely a gem and worthy of 5 stars. My husband and I visited on date night as a precursor to cocktails and dinner. We don’t live here but we can see ourselves returning to walk through again and for the new exhibits. A tip, if you check-in on Facebook and show the cashier you will receive a free poster. Choice of 3. Each guest checking in on Facebook receives one. The gift shop features artist items that are affordable. I purchased earrings and am eyeing a glass piece. Lovely staff, so friendly and passionate about working in this museum. Way worth the stop when in Ft. Lauderdale. I tried to post some photos that weren’t already posted but I am sure others saw the same...
