I came here to celebrate my birthday. I called ahead the day before and they wouldn’t let me make a reservation unless it was 10 people. I had 9. Over the phone, they told me the last time to get food was 11pm. When we arrived at the restaurant, it was a little before 10pm. 6 of us were there but they wouldn’t let us sit until the entire party was there. We asked them why and they said it was because we only had 90 minutes to eat and if the other people came later they would have less time to eat. We said “ok but that’s our problem not yours.” Then they said “well it’s just our policy”. One person told us the food closed at 11:30pm and another told us 11pm. We eventually decided to just sit with the 6 of us and the rest of our friends would have to sit as a separate party. They had a robot take us to our table. (Every other table after us was sat by a real person and there were so many people working there. I don’t know why they used the robot for us.)
We didn’t realize that it was a buffet and we had to get our own food to cook. The quality of the food was terrible. The meat was so fatty and hard to chew. Flavors were hit or miss. We told the rest of our friends not to come at that point.
Our server was Alex. He was very monotone, no personality, and didn’t even get the bare minimum right. He didn’t give anybody waters despite all the other tables having water. We had to ask for it. We asked him if there was someone that could accommodate a handicap person to get food from the buffet and he said no. (This also makes me question where they would have been able to fit a wheelchair had someone been in one. All the tables were booths.) He didn’t explain that there was already oil on the table for the grill until later when we asked for oil or butter because everything was sticking to the grill. Also there was only 1 grill for the whole table and it wasn’t even in the middle. Very difficult for people sitting on the inside of the booth to cook. I had to ask for utensils and tongs to cook our food because he didn’t bring any to the table while we got up to grab food from the buffet. He only gave us 2 knives for the whole table so we were passing the knives around when we needed to use it. The tapioca in my bubble tea was undercooked. My boyfriend’s frozen strawberry drink tasted like straight Nesquick. At the beginning of our meal, Alex asked if we wanted white rice. We said yes. He came back a few minutes later and said the rice would be another 15 minutes because it was cooking. It took 40 minutes to get our rice.
A table near us got a birthday celebration with sparklers and a bunch of servers singing happy birthday. Our friend asked after that if our table would get that and Alex said yes with the dessert. (I brought my own cake that they were storing in the cooler.) They basically waited until they were closing to bring out my cake and they had the robot sing a programmed happy birthday. Our serve didn’t sing nor did anyone join him - other than my own friends/family. It was very anti-climactic and I just ended up taking my cake home to cut.
The only good thing about the whole experience was that my meal was free and they gave me a Labubu because it was my birthday.
Definitely will never go back and do not recommend anyone...

Volcano Hot Pot & BBQ opened about 4 months ago. They are located in Hollywood at Oakwood Plaza. Close to Topeekeegee Yugnee Park. We inquired about reservations for our large group on a Saturday night but they said it wasn't necessary, and they don't accept reservations. We arrived early and they wouldn't seat us until everyone arrived. Understandable. Once we had our full party, they sat us immediately. It wasn't super busy at that time so we were good, as they confirmed. We were split into 2 large booths.
Our server was Bianca and another young lady at the booth next door, I'm so sorry I honestly didn't get her name. She had short black curly hair and wore glasses. They were both wonderful and took good care of our group.
We opted for the hot pot option for our group as they said the entire table has to match options. We usually go to Chow One for Korean BBQ so I was stoked to try the hot pot option. This is for an all you can eat option too. Adults are $32.99/pp and kids are $17.99/pp (child 3-5 ft tall or kids over 5 ft or age 12 will be charged adult prices). The height and age thing for kids was interesting.
Be warned there is also a 2-hour limit for these AYCE experiences. Here is how it goes down:
HOT POT INSTRUCTIONS Pick soup base with server. Go to buffet section to pick protein & veggies. Create your own dipping sauce at sauce bar. Add your protein & veggies to broth. Cook accordingly. Enjoy!
We had a wonderful time and the food was abundant. Our table picked 5 different soup bases so we can try all of them. I personally got the Korean Seafood Soup which was really good but my favorite is the Thai Curry Soup, it tasted very similar to a Thai lemongrass soup base. Very light and not heavy at all, more lemongrass flavors than curry actually. I snagged the following proteins/veggies: bok choy, cabbage, spinach, mushrooms, tofu, blue crab, snow crabs, shrimp, udon noodles, sweet potato noodles. I created my own dipping sauce with a sesame base and added fried garlic, cilantro, green onions, chili garlic sauce. My dipping sauce was so tasty.
We brought in a birthday cake to celebrate our friend’s birthday too. Bianca got the cake and recruited like 6 servers to make the birthday singing a big commotion and spoiled our girl with a celebratory happy birthday song!
The large group in a booth setting was challenging for people getting in and out to head to buffet or just getting up and coming back. Ha. Would be so much easier with regular chairs at tables. The vibe here is very brightly lit and tons of purple neon lighting which made me feel like I was at a nightclub. Haha. Service was wonderful, food was good and we had fun. They offer little desserts and ice cream treats too but I was too full for that.
Overall, this experience really was a lot of fun and there are tons of options. Too many actually that I was so overwhelmed as this was my first time here. I would take my whole family here again because they would love it. Great interactive...
