Was looking forward to this place after reading reviews... I was disappointed & embarrassed as I had hyped the place up to my husband. Got there in between breakfast & lunch, around 10:40, and had to wait until 11 before they'd make us food. They DID let us know they were switching over to lunch, but I didn't realize we'd have to wait 20 min to get anything to eat (I wouldn't care, but my kids were hungry) - good to know if you go with kids.. I wish the kids' menu would be available during transition, but I get it.
Anyway.. Food was alright (my crabcake tasted great but had large chunks of connective tissue in it). Everything else was good food-wise. Drinks were really good!! Location too.
The biggest upset was that the service: wasn't great. Our server seemed to do the bare minimum. Attitude wasn't unpleasant, but made me super uncomfortable to ask for anything.. (I've worked in the industry, even fine dining, and I know how it can be.) I had to ask for menus! Haha. I thought maybe they were having a bad day until someone else, probably a regular, came in, and they were super friendly, smiley & chatty with them. All the other servers and bartenders were fine.. I don't know why ours seemed so irritated. It sucked! It also sucks going out to eat with young, picky kids, so it made the experience a lot worse, lol.
I don't typically leave reviews, but I wanted to inform others with kids to my experience
I didn't talk to management as there didn't appear to be anyone who cared about the experience there, and I really just wanted to...
Read moreOn this year's visit to the area, we ate here for lunch every day. Lee, the breakfast manager was just wonderful to work with. Even though we moved to avoid wind and a smoker, once we found our spot, Lee offered great advice. She was the reason we wanted to explore more food.
The 1st day we had sliders, they cut bread slices from the sub roll. The bread was light and perfect for a small, tasty piece of meat. They were ridiculously good. The next day, they came on little buns that were just too much bread. Had we known to order them the 1st way, we would have been much happier.
We'd liked the sliders so much that we decided we'd hit up the burger. Though we asked for medium, the burger arrived so red and so obviously ground red meat that we only finished 1/2. Perhaps medium well is the best ask here.
On our final day, the chicken philly (no butter on the bun) was also on point. Very tender, very moist chicken, and very good grilled onions. Twice, Lee accommodated our request for something other than fries. She even delivered us fries to try. They were good enough that we caved on our recent decision to avoid them everywhere.
This is one of the best places to watch people I found. Between the calamity of a dead end parking lot next door to the boardwalk patrons of all sizes, shapes, and sanity. I could have spent the day here until I fell off a chair and warbled to this...
Read moreI want to start by saying that our waitress was very nice, cordial, and professional. However, do not spend your money here!!! The food preparation is not worth it and the manager might as well not have even been present. 3 of us had food issues... ordered a crab dip with “pita bread” that instead came with literally five chips for 15 dollars. Luckily our waitress was nice enough to bring my friend more “pita bread”. I myself ordered a chicken teriyaki and added shrimp. When I received my meal, the dish was missing the chicken. Again, the waitress was nice enough to remove the charge since the chicken was forgotten. My sister order the surf and turf medium rare. The steak came well done. When we notified the server she took the steak back to re-cook it. When it finally came back (once we were all finished eating) the steak came back medium-well. We asked the server to ask her manager if he could take care of the steak since we were finished and the steak was once again prepared incorrectly. The manager did not step over one time to speak to us. FYI being on vacation we are all here to spend money and have a nice dinner. We ALL work in the service industry. The manager took $3 off of her bill and proceeded to call us “stupid f**cking kids” as my sister walked up to tip the waitress 30% off her bill. HIGHLY disappointed and would expect so much more from a...
