The Marriott Hollywood Beach hotel can best be described as a modest beach front hotel where five-star service is delivered. It is conveniently located less than 15-20 minutes from the airport (FLL), near several restaurants, and a quick uber ride to various supermarkets (Publix, Walmart), and casinos. As a group coordinator I decided to visit this property unannounced to get a true feel of the services offered at this hotel. During my stay I was given a tour of the property by a member of their sales team, Ms. Pilar Espinoza. Throughout my tour Mrs. Espinoza was very hospitable, and her character was one that anyone should be able to gravitate to. She was warm, professional, and very hospitable. Her guided tour included visits to several room types, ballroom areas, the restaurant, pool area, and beach area. One may say that a property can sell itself, but Ms. Espinoza’s ability to communicate with charm and laughter coupled with a very fair price point convinced me that this property is more than suitable for my group’s needs. Below is a breakdown of the various aspects of my group’s visit.|FRONT DESK: Upon check-in we were offered champagne, water, and snacks which are some of the amenities related to the resort fee. I was greeted by my last name, and as a Marriott Elite member I was informed of the various benefits offered due to my status. |OUTSIDE BAR/RESTAURANT: The outside bar/restaurant was a great place for our group’s meet and greet where we huddled around the bar with other guest with a Living room type feel with several TV’s. The staff was friendly throughout my stay, and the breakfast exceeded my expectations. I would recommend the Croissant French Toast, and for those who seek non-alcoholic drinks their Pina Coladas were better than average. I encountered one of the best server’s name KAT whose service was worthy of five stars. |POOL/BEACH: The pool size was more than sufficient for the hotel, and beach staff went well beyond by assisting us in securing an area for our Saturday Beach party. They prearranged our area by setting up numerous chairs and umbrellas for a group of over fifty (50) people. Kudos to Moe and the Beach staff for their assistance.|ROOMS: The rooms are what one should expect from a modest beach front property. Rooms were not too large, but well-appointed with a beachy style décor/feel. My oceanfront room provided an extra Living room area with a pullout sofa, and two balconies (one facing the beach/one coastal). The water pressure in the shower was very strong, and the temperature can be whatever you desire (cold to very hot). Please don’t let the room description fool you as most rooms have a coastal view of the ocean, and/or the water on the other side of the peninsula. Truly not a bad room in the building especially if you are on the mid to higher floors. |BANQUET HALL: Our Saturday evening banquet took place in Suite A. As a person from a big city who has ventured to several formal engagements this area is very deceptive. The detail of the room with its many moldings and soft neutral tones would have you believe that you were in a big city for a formal event, and not in a beach hotel. The space and décor are worthy for a wedding, and the staff that assisted us during our event did not disappoint (servers, bartender etc.). The Banquet Manger Mauricio was very attentive to our group needs prior to our arrival and all the way to the conclusion of our event.|THE HOTEL STAFF: This is where this modest hotel surpassed our expectations. I’ve stayed at several five-star hotels where the service did not coincide with their rating. On the flip side this property exemplifies how a modest hotel can distribute five-star service. Our group stay extended over four nights t that included the weekend, and members of my group experienced a family type atmosphere where everyone felt welcomed. The housekeeping staff were friendly, and everyone we encountered carried on as if their employment was not just a job, but a place where everyone is focused on you having a pleasant experience. A special thanks to Ms. Dacosta in mediating my pre-arrival group requests, and for keeping me updated with my group’s listing.| For the reasons stated above my group will revisit this hotel when the need arises in the Hollywood Florida area. Their hospitality has even convinced one of my attendees to switch his upcoming pre-cruise hotel to the Marriott Hollywood...

Such a disappointment. Would not recommend.

The facilities were okay, but nothing great, and the cost is astronomical. For the price I was expecting a nicer place. We chose this place so we would have a handicapped accessible room for my grandmother. I reserved 2 rooms, 2 queen beds in each, one handicapped accessible. I was told they'd be connecting. I called the week before to confirm and was told they would be connecting. I called the day before to confirm and was told it would be connecting, But the only handicap accessible rooms have king size beds. I asked if there was a couch or something or a cop and they said yeah there's a couch. We got there, the rooms were not connected. That's not so bad, but the crazy part is there's no way they would ever be connecting as they do not provide that. So I'm not sure why I was told that twice. There was also no couch. They do not provide couches in any of their rooms. I am sharing a bed with my grandmother.

It was dirty and just enough things were wrong. We stayed a Friday to Monday.

First off, we were unable to check in at 4. The front desk said they would text us when it was ready. We waited around and I finally asked after awhile, and they said oh yeah it's ready!

Our fridge made a high pitched whine, which was so bad we had to unplug it at night.

When I went to open the curtain on the balcony, the handle came off- it was not screwed on, just placed there.

The buttons on our remote control didn't work.

The body wash bottle in the shower was off the wall, still attached to its holder, but everything just placed in the shelf area.

The floor was so dirty we had to keep shoes or socks on, or the bottom of our feet would be black. That was really gross.

There were wires visible around the mirror.

The water pressure was abysmal and the heat was on a regulator so I never fully felt clean. I'm ok if it isn't a fire hose, but I appreciate more than a full trickle.

We waited on Saturday for housekeeping to tell them, but the room was never cleaned. When I called to the front desk, the lady said they'd send people right up.

We waited for maintenance, and I said please fix it, we need dinner at this point. We went to dinner and the hotel called us asking where we were. I said I had told maintenance they were allowed in and that we needed food.

Maintenance did exchange our fridge and fix the handle on the curtains. Oddly enough, when we returned, there were 2 bottles off the shower wall.

I called the front desk to let them know so they could fix it on Sunday, and also that housekeeping didn't do their job, and the man was very argumentative and kept insisting that we had put a privacy marker on our door. I assure you we did not. He was accusing and rude. I asked him if he expected us to stay in the room our entire vacation, waiting for them to fix all of the things wrong with it. He's the reason I am writing this review.

Nothing happened Sunday with maintenance, even though we told the staff again about the bottles in the shower and the remote.

We tried the in-room coffee. Two of the creamers were okay and the third one had gone bad and curdled all of the coffee so we had to start over but they only give you one normal and one decaf coffee per day.

Another inconvenience was that the blow dryer did not go on high level. It would only do the low level option. Also the cord was stuck and would not fully retract and would also not fully come out.

The food at breakfast was bland and ok, but super expensive. It was $51 for a side of toast, a bagel with cream cheese, side of bacon, and some coffees and orange juice.

The last straw was on the morning of checkout there was a cockroach crawling on the wall. We left for breakfast and quickly checked out.

Overall, we were super disappointed. It is getting to be an older hotel with problems, and customer service is going downhill. I would not have minded paying for luxury hotel if we were getting the services that they offered. But this was a very bad experience for what we were expecting and...

TRAVELING MARRIOT EMPLOYEES/ AFFILIATES BE AWARE! The most disrespectful Manager (Alexis, Front desk manager) experience at any hotel in the world, of the MANY hotels we have stayed at over years of family travel! We travel to many places and go to many hotels, but this time my wife wanted to check out Hollywood Florida, And her father (A 30-YEAR EMPLOYEE VETERAN) of the same hotel company let my wife use some of his employee days. We asked for help with a smelly situation another guest accidentally did, our balcony sticks out farther than the others, and I found my shirt there was soiled and gross from an alcoholic drink. I informed the manager we were not mad and things happen, but did not want this NEW SHIRT dirty like that in our luggage..... The manager was no help and was extremely rude. Said she wasn't there and did not know what happened to insinuate the event I described was false or made up. Does she need to be witness to all things for validation from paying customers??? Which I called her on it, asking if all paying customers coming with a complaint are just storytellers... I asked if the item could be cleaned and she said there is no cleaning service at the hotel at all, everything is out of the hotel by a company. She said MAYBE something could be done, BUT BECAUSE WE ARE ON EMPLOYEE DISCOUNT the GM needs to approve it. She said it loud enough for all guest in the lobby to know we booked employee rates. Absolutely rude and the worst customer service ever. She later said the GM would need to approve any customer!!!! THEN WHY WAS OUR EMPLOYEE RATE BROUGHT UP AT ALL? If this is how she views her employees rate customers, as liars, storytellers, and less than full-paying guests, and ok to tell everyone our rates business and publicly insult us....Then it could be normal thoughts for all employees privy to that information at the front desk. Most everything was great here during our stay, but that mentality and treatment from the manager to a 30-year veteran daughter's family is absolutely outrageous and disrespectful. It put my wife in tears and made her feel horrible for the rates gift from her father for her birthday next month. I will revise this more once I have more time. Thank you for making my wife feel horrible on a vacation stay gifted by her father. We expected better from this. You ruined our family vacation making us feel less. No apologies, either. Completely flat with no emotion, no care and concern for insulting guests at all. This post isn't about not getting help with a shirt, it is about how we were treated when...

I booked a room here for one night over the weekend, Sunday-Monday, for my mom‘s birthday and I can say that that will be the last time. When booking, I placed that it was for my mom‘s birthday and this was not to try and get anything for free, but it was done in hopes that I would receive one of the better rooms of the room type that I booked. The first impression that I had when walking in was that the hotel looked very old and gloomy, but I decided to ignore it and check in. One of the guaranteed requests of my room was to be on the seventh floor and above with a partial ocean view. However, I was placed on the fifth floor. I immediately noticed, but I chose not to say anything because it was close to 11pm when we checked in (although I did call the hotel earlier that day to let them know that it would be a late check in). Once we got to the room, it looked very old and much smaller than what I had expected. The partial ocean view was also very obstructed due to the trees (as shown in the picture), so I decided to go back downstairs and request the room that I had booked. When I got there and let the lady know, she responded that they do not guarantee requests, so of course I showed her my confirmation that clearly said “guaranteed requests: 7th floor and above.” She eventually changed the room to the eighth floor and the difference in the two rooms was very obvious. This room was much bigger and it looked more modern. The only thing is that it did not have a tub, which the reservation stated it would have. The view of the ocean was better as we were higher, however, the dumpster view in the front someone overshadowed that. The last straw was housekeeping knocking on our door at 8:43 AM. I got up to answer after the second knock and the housekeeper asked me what time we were checking out. I informed her that we would be checking out at checkout time. She paused and then asked again “what time?” To which I responded “check out time is at 11 AM right?” She nodded and walked away. Again, we did not check into our room and get settled in until after 11 PM, so being disturbed by housekeeping at this time, who was persistent even after I let her know that I would be leaving at check out time, was very bothersome. We chose not to even stay until 11 AM. We checked out close to 9:30 because we were just done with this hotel. Out of all the Marriotts that I’ve stayed in since I was a kid, I can say this was the worst experience for me. I could tell that my mom was overall dissatisfied, which was very disheartening to me. I won’t be going back.
