Took my husband and our 2yr old daughter for a pre-Father's Day brunch/lunch as the best excuse to finally check out Latitude, (not like you need one!). I've had the restaurant up on my saved list since pre-lockdown. It's located in the Marriott Hollywood Beach and self parking is located in the hotel's garage. Hostesses were great and Britney guided us to prime location right on the boardwalk, perfect for direct ocean breeze, plenty of people watching and of course views of the Atlantic. Our server -Trey - was very nice and attentive and took our orders for the afternoon:
Starters: Try the firecracker shrimp and tomahawk tacos. Rating - 10/10. Delicious! The tacos come with fries. Entrées: Order thejerk chicken w/black rice. Rating 10/10. Perfectly cooked grains!
Food coma settling in, we check out with Trey and head to the garage, only for hubby to realize he's lost the parking ticket. I retrace our steps back to our table twice but couldn't find it. I should mention that he is on crutches. I approach the front desk to ask for help and here's where my experience sours. Sharon rudely let's me know that there's nothing she can do and that the lost ticket fee is $100. Meanwhile, we've spent almost double that plus tips. I explain that we were patrons at the restaurant and she demands my room number. I explain again that we are not hotel guests. She obviously doesn't believe me so she asks for my receipt, which I don't have a copy of, I paid cash and did not receive one. She proceeded to tell me to go find my server. I leave to go hunt Trey down, but he'd signed out already. So at a loss and feeling very dejected for how I'd been talked to at the front, I approach Britney, the hostess who accompanied me to the manager's office to vouch for me. They were so kind and Evans was directed to go and assist us in exiting the garage.
I refuse to let Sharon's behavior dampen my experience at Latitude - I will be back. But Management definitely needs to address her customer facing demeanor. She the first point of contact with the guests and for them to overhear how she was talking to me while waiting in line to check in is not a good look. The gentleman before me incurred a similar wrath and I remember hesitating before approaching her. I'm just glad it all worked out positively. Everyone else was so kind and respectful and I'll choose to...
Read moreWe have been dining a few times per year at Latitudes for many years. It has been our go-to spot for beautiful brunches, lunches, and evening meals, particularly with special friends. We have previously left several glowing reviews. Today, we were sorely let down. We planned a late morning breakfast, this time with longtime friends. Upon calling ahead we were told breakfast would be served until noon. Our friends arrived early, closer to 11 am. They were told that breakfast was served only until 10:45 so we would all have to order off the lunch menu, exactly what we tried to avoid by calling early. When we arrived at 11:30, we were of course told the same thing. The waiter and manger offered a perfunctory apology, blaming a miscommunication from the Front Desk. Trying to salvage the get-together, we all then resorted to plan B, mahi mahi. After waiting another while, the waiter returned informing us that there was no mahi mahi, either. With no other suitable menu options for us that day, we calmly and respectfully informed the manager that we would be leaving. The manager clearly could not have cared less. I, again calmly and respectfully, asked at the front desk to speak with a general manager, just to provide helpful feedback as we departed. I was afforded the opportunity to speak only with the restaurant manager about whom I wished to provide feedback! Still, I took the opportunity to directly express my disappointment with his indifference. He rejected my assertion as to his indifference and did offer an apology but neither while still at the table nor in the main lobby did he or anyone else make any effort to make things right with any gesture, not even to reimburse our two wasted $9 parking fees. We were first misled into presenting ourselves for breakfast only to later learn well after placing our 'plan B' order for fish, that that were out of fish! No effort was made to make things right despite our wasted time and money. Today's experience at this restaurant did not leave a good taste in our...
Read moreThe best thing about staying in a good hotel is the on-site restaurant; it’s not always a hit, but when it is, boy, it’s really good. Latitude is the on-site restaurant at the this Marriott property. This restaurant has both an oceanfront space and indoor space and the views are just phenomenal if you choose to sit outdoors since it’s right next to the beach. If you, instead, wish to grab a few drinks and sit by the pool, you could do that too (the pool is accessible via the guest key card). This restaurant offers everything from breakfast to dinner.
The restaurant is spacious with plenty of tables both indoors and outdoors. We had brunch at this place and the food was exquisite. We ordered Eggs Benedict, Pancakes and the Latitudes Avocado Toast. For drinks, we had just the regular coffee that was served (I’d recommend getting something else). The food was delicious and quite filling. The pancakes were fluffy and the syrup had ample sweetness to alter this from dry to perfectly moist. The strawberries and the whipped cream were the extras for this dish and paired nicely I might add. The eggs Benedict with potatoes was a delicious combo, the Avocado Toast had sunny side up eggs which were made perfectly with a bright golden yellow yolk and the bread was crispy which gave it a crunch and texture that was missing from this dish.
Latitude is an on-site restaurant at the Marriott Hotel. Although it’s affiliated with this property, anyone can visit this restaurant to dine in. They offer everything from Breakfast to Dinner along with alcoholic drinks. We had a splendid time at this restaurant because of mainly two things - the food and the views; we thoroughly enjoyed our brunch and the magnificent outdoor views. If you’re thinking about staying at this Marriott property, I’d highly recommend giving this...
