This review is for Corbo & Sons in Bell Market.
I was once advised by a friend, when he goes to a new pizzeria, he always orders a plain slice with a glass of water. This way, he can truly taste how good their pizza is.
Taking his advice, Hubby and I decided to order a plain. At Corbo & Sons, you cannot order by the slice. Hubby and I ordered a 12" plain personal pizza. Believe me, it's big enough to feed two people. If you so desire, you can order a glass of wine or beer to go with your pizza. After ordering, we waited for about 13 minutes and our pie was ready. I truly appreciated their fast service but the question remains: is their pizza delicious?
Have you ever had cheese that was so chewy and oddly enough, balls up in your mouth as you're consuming the slice? The reasoning behind that is two words: old cheese. Hubby and I ordered a 12" plain personal pizza. Believe me, it's good enough for two people. I took my first bite. The sauce was seasoned nicely with some oregano and the cheese was fresh. Very good start! My only complaint is that the thin crust was not crispy at all. When it is that thin, I was expecting it to be crispier.
Regardless, the staff and service were very good and we will be returning to try other things. It passed the...
Read moreI’m not sure where to start here. While I’ve only eaten at two of the five restaurants at Bell Market, there are so many great things to say. The Ramen at Jozu is terrific. I had the spicy miso ramen with pork belly. The noodles were cooked perfectly, the broth was balanced and well seasoned, spicy but not aggressivly so. They do serious poke bowls as well. The salmon poke is solid and the yuzu adds very bright note to the dish. I’m looking forward to trying the fried chicken curry next time I’m at Jozu. Honeybell bakery’s baguettes are among the best I’ve had in NJ. Brick Farm Market in Hopewell and Sook Pastry in Ridgewood, are two other favorites. My son loved the adult cookie (a rosemary and sea salt shortbread) he had from Honeybell. I’ve yet to have a pizza at their other restaurant as that had yet to open. I’ll be sure to have one soon. Parking is a bit of pain at the complex but it’s well worth the trek for the quality of food here. Pricing is very...
Read moreNot a good experience. Ordered a salad and two pies. We were told they would find us and bring the salad out first, then the pies. After 35 minutes , no salad. Went over to inquire and the lady behind the counter pulled out a premade salad from their refrigerator. Couldn’t do that 35 minutes ago? Another 35 minutes, no pizza. So an hour and 10 minutes after waiting for our pizza, the server brought our pies out to somebody else , that had ordered after us. They told the server it wasn’t their pies , so we inquired as to whether they were our pies and were told no. Then10 minutes later they brought those same pies out to us. Calzone overloaded with oregano, pizza overloaded with rosemary. No apology or consciousness of our experience. ...
