El Rincon Boricua Restaurant — Restaurant in Holyoke

This Restaurant used to be very good. Ordered here all the time, got catering here a million times for my job. But, recently I went here to show my boyfriend how good it was. We walk in no one greets us, there are these girls behind the far register just looking at us, and continued to talk to each other completely disregarding us. So, I say well helloooo should I sit myself. We did, and waited at least 15 minutes before one of the girls came up to us for our order. The Order: The order reaches our table, and the white rice was soo hard, with no flavor. The fried chicken was so deep fried that when we bit into it ... it just crumbled literally no meat just skin hard skin. We tell the waitress in a nice manner keeping our voices low. She proceeded to get upset. Terrible experience. Other occasion: We order for 100 people at least twice a month for meetings etc. Prices are always changing, getting higher every time. I tell them we ordered the same thing last month it was such amount. They, did not care asked if I wanted it or not. You guys are losing very good customer. Go To Fernandez Restaurant on High St. Holyoke (It is a little further from us , but worth the drive) The people there are so sweet, treat you, anyone like they've known you for years. Wish I could have tried the food since it's top rated for that area. Would be nice to be greeted when you walk in, Instead of getting dirty looks by the waitress that seems like they didn't want to work. We stood basically in the middle of the restaurant a couple was waiting to either be checked out or waiting to eat for about ten minutes. Two waitresses saw the couple standing at the register and obviously saw my son and I standing a couple of feet away from them. Both didn't acknowledge either party besides the dirty look both girls gave one brunette and the other blonde. After the looks and waiting ten minutes without anyone saying a word to us we just walked out. Please acknowledge your guests for example: " hello! Welcome! We are a bit busy today but someone will be right with you." Or " hello! It's going to be a few minutes before I can get you, as soon as I finish these orders I'll be right with you." I don't think it's that hard to make someone feel comfortable and welcomed. I didn't feel welcomed at all so I was uncomfortable waiting any longer and went down to 161 down the road where the lady didn't have much food left but was very sweet! She said hello right as we walked in apologized for not having much and had a smile which made want to go...

For the most part its great but there are times when the food is not up to snuff and the service is a little lacking but I know the owners and some of the staff and they are great people but there is always room for improvement. Today I had roast pork with yellow rice with vienna sausages and beans. It was very tasty, but this is an example of hit or miss. Sometimes the roast pork is great as it was today but other times its not so great. They need to be a little more consistent that's all. Stay away during Thursday or Friday lunch hours. Its a mad house. Try going earlier or later or...
