Schermerhorn's Seafood-TEMPORARILY CLOSED FOR RENOVATIONS — Restaurant in Holyoke

Had our first experience here tonight. Can't really say I was impressed. The cashier had a hard time splitting the bill and seemed annoyed that she couldnt just split the bill in half. But had to have one meal on a personal acc the other buisness. So that was annoying. Then there's big cheesey signs of like "whole belly clams for this amount". Or buy this for that. It was overwhelming not knowing where to look for the menu. Having it all organized would be easier. I just saw Gordon Ramsey rolling his eyes. Lol You order at the counter get your drinks, which you pour yourself. But the coke kept dripping water on my hand. We go to sit and it's a maze to find a seat. The wooden chairs at tables look uncomfortable so we opt for the booth in the back. But the "seat" was very tiny. Maybe 6" wide? The food came out quickly. That was a plus. I hot the fried calamari. That was good, not chewy or rubbery as I've had at other places. So that was good. However the sauce spilled and a worker stuck a napkin in the calamari to keep it from seeping into the calamari. I was completely grossed out. Clean napkin, but still she was just saying she cant leave ketchup on tables due to covid. But it's ok to stick a napkin in my food? The clam chowder all I can say is it was basically campbells. The hot lobster sub - however - was very good. LOTS of hot yummy juicy meat it was falling out of the buttery toasted bun. Honestly, Wish I'd just gotten 2 of those. Reallly tastey!! Highky recomend that. The fries aregood too. and I'm picky about fries. The coleslaw a little creamy but still good. Luckily no relish in it. That was good too. My friend had the stuffed shrimp and lobster cir soup. And was surprised he got 4 shrimp. Good portions and smelled good. 😊 Over all not an awful experience. But not a place I'm going out of my way for either. If you're in the area not looking for fine dining. This is the place. Sometimes you just need good food not high...

This place is a joke. Their food is delicious, but that's only if you have the patience to deal with the rude ladies who answer the phone... They CLEARLY say they deliver, but when I've called at 8:30 they say they weren't busy enough and sent there driver home. Second time about a week later I called at about 8:20 and the same rude (older sounding woman) answered saying, Nope it's too late, pick up Only, and then I replied, well your website says u guys are open until 9pm and it says you guys deliver 7days/wk. then she replied angrily, nope nope nope, not true..: So after this rude incident, I decided to not call them for a while... So I tried it once again 3 months later, at 7:25PM. When the woman answered I asked nicely if I could have a to go order and she asked for my phone# and I ordered the steamers, but as soon as I finished saying the word steamers, my pregnant wife, in the background, reminded me that we couldn't pick it up and it needs to be delivered, so I politely said, ma'am I apologize but it needs to be delivered now. The tone in the woman's voice changed completely as she says, HOLD ON.... And then Put me on hold with some horrible back ground music/noise. And that's when we said, you know what, forget this place. They clearly don't wanna clean up there act by getting rid of all these grumpy old women answering their phones, but that's O. K. Because our born and raised in Holyoke family of 6, plus all my siblings who have had innapropriate encounters with the (sorry to have to say this), the Female staff at Shermerhorns and have always enjoyed going to this Holyoke Hot Spot (aka: used to be a "hot-spot"), will no longer be enjoying great food at the expense of their rude service and disappointing...

Been to Schermerhorn’s a few times. The last two times have been AWFUL. The table (three actually because you can choose your table) was sticky. The plates and bowls (for lobster claw/guts) were greasy/oily. We were given another bowl. Again greasy. The service was awful. One of the waitresses seemed MISERABLE. The owner seemed annoyed. And might I point out it was not busy at all. The waitress had on the smallest shorts ever and kept bending over and her butt was hanging out. The place itself is BEYOND outdated. Ceiling falling a part. The decor is outdated. Stains everywhere on the walls.

The food was not good. We all got the twin lobsters. They were over cooked, burnt and took over an hour and 30 mins to get to us. The claws were black and the meat inside was rubber.

They messed up and forgot to give us one of our apps and when I asked for it, they said I didn’t order it. Which, ok possibly, so I got my receipt out which was not itemized. So the waiter (younger guy, he was lovely and so pleasant) said he would get us the app.

That takes forever to come out and before receiving it the rude/half dressed waitress comes and SLAPS a bill for the app on the table. Shocked by this and not saying a word, I crumpled up the receipt. No discussion on pulling up our bill on there system. Just plain RUDE.

I left a very small tip of $10 on a $200 bill, hoping it went just the waiter. But doubtful. I tried to say something about all this but everyone seemed very unbothered. Last time we are going there.

Oh and to top it off my family (4 of us) got sick on the way home. DO....
