Had a bad experience here. Sushi not fresh. Sushi chef was deliberately rude! Awkward dining experience. We had a reservation and arrived after 7 pm, walked through the door and the sushi chef looks at us with a very irritated look on his face and then looks down at his chopping board. We ask where we should sit? He ignores us. Can we sit here at the bar? He pretends not to hear. The place is tiny one room with 5 seats at the bar so uncomfortable to eat with his sour face ignoring you all night. Ordered the 11 piece sushi and 3 roll sushi which was $53! Thought it came with 3 sushi rolls but it was one tiny 2 inch tuna roll, like so small, cut into 3 tiny pieces! Rip off. The 11 pieces sushi were small, basic and nothing special. One piece was very hard. And fish was not fresh. The chef was cutting a block of fish it had white film on one side . Chef did not look or talk to us the whole night even as he’s giving us the sushi plate. The beef bowl was okay but not particularly flavorful. The cold soba was almost frozen it wasn’t yummy or the right temperature. The tempura was the only thing that was delicious. They only have 7 seats so turnover is low. Do not order any fish because it will not be fresh. This is my 2nd time here and will be the last time. Very unfriendly sushi chef, didn’t even get a nod of his head. The waitress was nice but the sushi chef made it a unenjoyable experience. Very expensive for below...
Read moreKoko I-naba is hands down one of the best traditional Japanese Sushi and Soba Spot I’ve ever been to on the island ! The sushi is insanely fresh and absolutely delicious — every piece melts in your mouth. You can tell the chef is a true masters of their craft — good cuts, perfectly seasoned rice, with just pure, elevated flavor.
But what completely blew me away was the soba — unlike anything I’ve had before. Made fresh, it’s perfectly chewy with a rich, earthy depth that pairs beautifully with the delicate broth. It’s rare to find soba this authentic and soul-warming.
From start to finish, the experience is simple, and absolutely spot-on. If you're looking for traditional Japanese cuisine done right, come to Koko I-naba in KOKO MARINA, my new favorite place to eat...
