I hope this review is seen by management or owner. My husband and I went into Mangiamo by 604 at 2:30-3:00 on Father's Day. We wanted to just have some appetizers and a salad before shopping. We walked into the restaurant, there wasn't anyone at the hostess stand and being the restaurant wasn't busy, we knew we could sit at the bar, usually, no problem.
A server was in the service area near where we sat down. As we were sitting at the bar, I noticed a young lady get up from the bar and walk into the kitchen, then back to the hostess stand. The server informed us of the drink menu qr code stickers on the bar and then we were approached by who, I'm guessing, was the hostess, the lady who was sitting at the bar when we arrived. She proceeded to inform us, in a very rude, unprofessional manner, how the next time we come in, be sure and let the hostess seat us, as she put down our roll ups and share plates.
We informed her that there wasn't anyone at the hostess stand and we knew we didn't "need to be seated" at the bar. To which she basically snapped back at us, repeating how we needed to be seated by the hostess.
Well, here's what, if you are going to be rude and nasty to your guests, you probably shouldn't be sitting at bar when you're the hostess, you know, the person who greets the guests AS THEY COME IN.
This young lady was so over the top rude, I immediately stood up and my husband and I left, very politely thanking her for letting us know protocol.
This is probably the fourth or fifth time we've gone in to Mangiamo, we've always sat at the bar because I'm a 37-year restaurant worker and I know service can be lacking in the dining room and we've been happy with the bartenders we've encountered. And guess what, we've never before had to be "seated by the hostess" to sit at the bar.
We won't be back and your hostess needs to be trained in points of service or rethink her decision to work in the...
Read more1000% Disappointed ! Real nightmare. I would not go back if you paid me $1,000.00.
My wife and I had reservations to have dinner at 8:15 pm after attending church at Holy Family church for Palm Sunday. Unfortunately when leaving church the traffic light at the intersection where you cross over Nimitz to get back to Valkenburg was stuck on red. The cars in front of us would not move, they just sat at the red light for 10 plus minutes. I called the police to send out a traffic cop, but by the time they arrived, we were running late for our reservation. My wife tried to call the restaurant to let them know we were running late, but we could not get through to a live person. When we arrived at 8:30, we were told in a matter of fact manner that the kitchen was closing and we could not be served. We asked the reservation desk to check with the manager. The response was the same. No attempt to be accommodating ! Like “what about If you have a salad and we can see what else on the menu may be available. “ Maybe we can get you some different appetizers”. There was nothing, no attempt whatsoever to accommodate. Mind you the restaurant closes at 9pm. Maybe your hours should 9pm unless the manager decides to close the Kitchen early. Diner beware.!
Night and day: We looked at the hours for Nico’s at Pier 39 and saw they were closing at 9pm. We figured what the heck, it can be any worse than we got mistreated at Mangiamo by 604. We arrived at Nico’s at 8:50 and they greeted us with a smile and sat us down immediately. They served us promptly and we had a delicious and enjoyable dinner. I think the manager at Mangiamo could learn a lot from Nico’s about customer service.
I get it that people want to get home on a Sunday night, but if you advertise you are open till 9, you need to...
Read moreWe've been here a few times now for vendor lunches due to its close proximity to the airport. The last time I had the eggplant parmesan and it was okay at best. I little overcooked for me. This time I got the Supreme pizza. I'll just say it looked way better than it tasted. Considering everything on it, it was unfortunately kind of bland. I also didn't care for the cheese. They did load it with sausage but it too was lack luster when it came to its flavor.
One of the vendors suggested we not get the lasagna because the last time he came here and ordered that, it was hot on the outside but frozen in the middle. Not a good look considering the price. This time two of them got the chicken parmesan and both did speak highly of that dish so maybe if we come back another time I'll get that.
I will say I'm singing a different song when it comes to their appetizers. This last visit we had the spinach and artichoke dip, calamari, mozzarella sticks and the cheese balls and they were all really good. I also enjoyed their plantation tea.
Ambience is really nice here since it's on a golf course. You get some really nice course views. There's also plenty of parking. Even though it's on a military golf course, anyone can eat here which is nice.
Service was really good too. Definitely no complaints there. Our server was friendly...
