This ghetto looking place is hidden in plain sight, next to Ace Hardware on Waialae Ave. It's an underrated restaurant with an interesting name, No Name Sandwich... lol. It's crazy good for its simple focus on quality banh mi sandwiches. The cilantro, sweet onions, house sauce, and BBQ pork or beef make these sandwiches so good. I've even seen a tourist literally buy and eat a sandwich in the restaurant, then minutes later go up to order another one. This time, I purchased and tried the meatball sandwich. It was good and savory, and it paired well with the sweet onions and the toasted French bread. For $9.99, it was worth it. Heads up, the restaurant is pretty popular, with many people calling in their orders instead of ordering in person. I highly recommend calling ahead to order and pick up when it's ready. The restaurant's exterior and interior don't look like much, but it doesn't matter when you have delicious sandwiches. I highly recommend you try this place once... you'll come back...
Read moreThis place use to be the best banh mi in Honolulu, but they have since really decreased their quality and quantity. I had been coming for 4+ years and the sandwiches were always big and packed with protein and veggies. For the past 6 months, all of a sudden, they increased the price but REDUCED the quantity but making the bread smaller, reducing the amount of stuffing of tofu/meat/veggies altogether. I used to get full by eating one, now I'm still hungry. One time, my bread was even cut in 3/4 size of the original. I understand they want to save money but just raise the price. I don't mind if you raise your price by $1-2 dollars but at least keep the same quantity and portions as before! Please return the quality and portions back to before! or we'll have to look for new banh mi places. If quality returns to before, I'll gladly keep buying for...
Read moreGood sandwiches at a very reasonable price. Not sure if the two working there were father and son, but they were working non-stop. Steady number of phone orders and people walking in.
No frills shop with counter seating and small tables. More of a grab-n-go type spot.
I ordered 2 sandwiches (bbq beef & roast pork) and was told it was going to be about 15 mins. The bread was toasted nicely with a good crunch that won't cut up your mouth.
The bbq beef was some sort of ground beef that was made into a patty then sliced up in strips with the standard vegetables, not quite what I expected, but not bad.
The roast pork was a bunch of cooked shredded pork and the standard vegetables, also not bad.
$21 after tax for 2 sandwiches, cheap...
