A Taste of Aloha: My Favorite Lau Lau Plate from Young's Fish Market There's something about the lau lau plate from Young's Fish Market that takes me straight back to the heart of Hawai'i. The tender pork wrapped in taro leaves, the perfect scoop of rice, and those sweet, savory strips of pipikaula—every bite was like a little piece of heaven. And of course, no plate was complete without the side of hoio and creamy macaroni salad. What made it even better wasn’t just the food—it was the feeling of sharing a meal with family and friends. Young's wasn’t just a place to eat, it was a place where memories were made, where you could savor the true taste of aloha. If you haven’t had the chance to try it, trust me—it’s a taste you’ll never forget.

Hawaiian food approved by Hawaiians! Never had anything less than perfection from Young’s. It’s our go-to spot when we need some good lau lau. Always juicy and tender, cooked to perfection, full of flavor! Their meal includes a generous portion of white rice, some pipikaula, and a large chunk of taro, as well as a small side of Lomi salmon. Very filling, you really get a Big Bang for your buck here. There’s also options for kids, even our excruciatingly picky eater (3 years old) loves the chicken long rice, and will eat the entire helping by himself! Easy for kids to eat, our 1 year old also loves the chicken long rice. It’s currently take out only for Covid, but well worth the stop.

Had the Hawaiian combo plate. Laulau and kalua pig were good as poi and lomilomi was also. A little pricey, fast and friendly service. I came back for lunch with a friend. Ordered the laundry laundry plate w/poi and a squid luau. Good size lau lau and poi. Pipi kaula was delicious and sweet potato was tasty. I enjoyed the squid luau. My friend lives the tripe stew. Young Fish Market is still on of the best places for Hawaiian food. My dad used to go to the original one on liliha Street. Go check them out.

It is always great. Even with the social distancing & asking for cooperation in wearing a mask...the lines move. I am so happy they are operating well. They are grateful to the patronage of locals that keep them afloat. I am grateful for their efforts in servicing the public 🤙 Now lets talk about the food. The fish lau lau and pork lau lau delicious as usual. They were out of poi...das ok, rice was to perfection. I hate soft mushy rice..real picky actually but not Youngs. Pipikaula, sweet potato and ofcourse, lomi salmon perrrfect.👍. I also bought roast pork, kulolo and haupia. I was on my way home with a huge smile on my face. The food was cooked to perfection which resulted in, as always, deliciousness. YUMMERZ! Mahalo 🤙 Youngs Fish Market for sticking it out during this...
