Had 3 opae'ula in a small glass tank container with a lid on top. Was told from the previous seller that it doesn't ever need cleaning. Left them like that for more than 6 months except to open the lid to periodically feed them. Got so fed up at looking at a very cloudy and algae covered situation so I decided to clean it by gently emptying them into a ceramic bowl as I proceeded to clean the tank. Filled it with "fresh tap" water and placed their decorations and then the opae back in. The next morning one was found dead at the bottom and the others were not acting normal. Rushed over to Kalihi Pet to tell them about finding one of them dead because I thought I saw shrimp for sale there before. The first thing the owner asked me was if I used tap water and I said yes and he said they can't be in just tap. Before I could blink he just took off to the tank area of his store and came back with a brand new bottle of ready to use brackish made by them. He said hurry home and I stood for a second by their checkout area but he said no need pay just go with it and change the water in the tank. I couldn't thank him enough because the two remaining opae are doing well and seem calm and acting normal again. Thank you all at Kalihi Pet Center for helping save my opae and not to mention the big bottle of brackish water for free (not cheap)!! Aloha...
Read moreDo not go here. It was crowded, smelled horrible none of the animals were being taken care of properly. The dogs were so sad and the cages had urine soaked newspapers. I was there for 40 mins and one employee changed one cage once! Iâve never seen so depressed animals in my life. Also way to overpriced $2,500 for a chihuahua? $6,000 for a shih tzu? If I had enough money to rescue each and everyone of those poor animals I would. Donât even get me started about the Pomeranians. 5 of them were in a 2 by 3 foot cage all huddled up and scared. Theses dogs definitely did not look like they were 8 weeks old and they obviously come from a puppy mill. Absolutely disgusted and disappointed. They kept axolotlâs in tiny plastic cups, a whole row of them. The betas werenât moving and there was about 50 of them on a wall in tiny 8 oz plastic cups. They also labeled them fighting fish! HORRIBLE! Advertising animals as aggressive obviously because they donât know how to take care of them. There was about 7 staff members and none of them came up to me and my friend asking if we needed anything. They should not be selling any of these animals and should have their license taken away. Sell your food and pet supplies but they should be shamed and disciplined for their actions of obvious abuse and neglect. They should...
Read moreOur family has purchased several times and enjoyed shop, until today. Our entire family is sick to our stomachs with the condition of the puppies. Specifically, the husky puppies. They have the shop way too hot and humid for them that the poor guy is going to have, if not already, a heat stroke. He's clearly in distress, panting and worn out that it urinated himself, and he's laying in his water dish that it struggled to climb into. A lotta people shopping were just a distressed about it's condition but my 10 year old made sure to get staff to tend to it. When I told them they need to get a fan on it immediately, few young guys quickly rushed back and one of the young staff commented, "I knew it!" But they only changed pad a rinsed urine off of him. I hope staff reads comment. You probably have cooling pads in the store you sell. Use them. Put a fan on them and drop the air in the store drastically. These breeds have a difficult time here and have a thick second coat. Learn about the breeds' specific needs before selling them. I will preface that staff is very friendly but a lotta young kids with no leadership. I believe I saw owner or much older staff member, but he was completely oblivious of the condition...
