Get their fried rice loco moco and thank me later!!! It's hands down one of the best loco mocos I've had! Oh yes I still have leftovers in my fridge! Why did I like it? Coz it's just pure umami in every bite, so good that my hubs who's usually into sweet stuff for breakfast said he would order my dish next time we're here. The over easy egg was cooked perfectly. The gravy was flavorful without being too salty. The burger patty wasn't too greasy but still had a lot of flavor. And omg the fried rice. I don't know why they put in there. It's just heaven for every single bite. Definitely do the fried rice and not the plain white rice.
We also got the apple caramel pancakes. It's like apple pie pancakes and it's perfect if you like that apple pie flavor. I enjoyed it especially their pancakes tasted buttery and soft. Also got the clam chowder. Great flavor but not sure why it's slightly yellowish. Maybe the broth they use? It's a way better value to get their bowl versus their cup. They also put a lot of clams in there!
Service was prompt and friendly given that they had signs out asking customers to be patient as they're understaffed, like many other restaurants. We paid for our food at the counter, took a number and sat down at a booth. Our server brought the right utensils including a spoon for my bowl of clam chowder.
Prices were very reasonable too. I would totally come back for...
Read moreI was craving chicken and waffles, so I decided to check this place out. I got there around 11 a.m., not busy at all. Took a few minutes to be acknowledged by the cashier (there are 2 of them), so I had ample time to look at the menu. Took a little longer again for the cashier to take my order. Here, you basically order with the cashier. They give you a number to place on your table. When your food is ready, someone else brings the food to your table. I ordered chicken and waffles with country gravy, side of eggs. Waffles were ok. Nothing exciting. I couldn't wait to take a bite of the chicken. Well, ...turns out I could. I could wait to cook my own chicken and waffles. It was like they cooked it yesterday and left it under the heating lamp. From the texture and battered, it was not crispy at all. Beyond disappointed. The country gravy had no flavor at all. The eggs were the only thing that tasted fresh and good. The place has a great variety of other options on their menu. The guy sitting next to me had fried rice and eggs. His look good. He ate it all. So, not everything is a disappointment here. I suggested you guys come try it for yourself. Form your own opinion. Read moreI've been on a waffle kick lately, so I searched on Yelp for breakfast spots for our day trip to Oahu.
ATMOSPHERE: Located in a strip mall, light poured in from the oversized windows that look onto the parking lot. Seating was spacious and the inside clean & tidy but a bit chilly. Zero wait time which was surprising for a Saturday morning.
PARKING: Free and plentiful.
MENU: Pancakes, crepes, waffles, French toast, omelettes, benedicts & loco mocos.
FOOD: Waffle Combo - $12.45 (menu stated $11.45) The combo also included two eggs and choice of meat in which I chose Portuguese sausage. The waffle was sizable, served hot off the iron with a crisp exterior, warm interior and that signature creamy batter aroma & taste. Sausages (2 thick slices) were flavorful with a slight sear. Eggs were perfectly over easy.
SERVICE: Order and pay at the counter, take a numerical sign to place on your table for delivery. Female expeditor was friendly and professional. Food delivery was lightning quick.
OVERALL: No-frills spot with good food, affordable prices and...
