Tailgaters Burger Co — Restaurant in Hope

Highway robbery.....My daughter and I made a trip to Crater of Diamonds State Park in Murfreesboro. We planned on staying at least overnight, and found a low cost motel in Hope, Ark. I looked for a good place to eat, online, and after reading Google reviews on Tailgaters, we decided to check it out. I ordered a large jalapeno burger combo, my daughter ordered the medium of the same burger. I chose tater tots with my meal, she chose a side salad.

I don't know if I've ever been more disappointed with a meal. The food was not the best burger I've ever eaten. It was decent, yes, but average, at best. I also felt that for the prices charged, the portions were not enough. The large is supposed to be a half pound burger. It may have been. Seemed a bit small. And for $11.99 for this meal, I certainly expected more than 9 tater tots.

My daughter's side salad was also very small. The cost of her meal was $9.99. They also expect you to tip. They do bring your food to you. That's it. You get your own drink refills, and you bus your own table. I feel the $30 I paid for the 2 of us to eat was grossly overpriced.

This is the locals spot for sure! They were very busy when we arrived and seemed a bit scattered. We ordered the fried pickles, classic hamburger, mushroom Swiss burger, and chicken wraps. The burgers were pretty good. They were lacking pickles, mustard or ketchup which was confusing a little. Just mayo, onion and lettuce. The mushroom swiss was the best of what we ordered. Grilled onions and fresh grilled mushrooms! The chicken wrap was just so so, lacking the volume of chicken expected and it was sort of dry. Stick to the specialty burgers here. Seems like that is their jam. The tots were hot and perfectly prepared. The fried pickles were tasty with rich ranch for dipping, just the portion seemed smaller than expected. They no longer serve the fried pies advertised. And that was a shame. But they were really great about setting us up with ice cream instead. The local flavor and sense of community were really great to watch. I think this is a wonderful place to stop in for a burger and tots!! Even though they were really busy and our food took awhile, I knew it was fresh. We plan to return again. Good little place in quaint...

Man... where to start... so, I usually give 4 stars to places I really like, but this one gets 5 stars for sure! From the friendly staff, to the cool decor to the amazing food, I have no complaints. I was in Murfreesboro and made the almost hour drive in to try this place and was NOT disappointed! They have a pretty diverse selection of different burgers and sandwiches and I will personally couch for the Club sandwich and fries! Every bite was just delicious and as much as you might think that's a pretty simple order, you'd be surprised at how often places make it a mediocre meal. Not so at Tailgaters!
