We went to Osteria Procaccini tonight. We've been here a handful of times before and we've liked it. They have good pizza and good drinks.
Tonight, we wanted to have a nice meal with each other. The server's greeting out of the gate was aggressive. They had this pizza wine pairing menu. I asked about the wine that was in one of the featured selections. The server retorted, "you have to get the specific pizza that is paired up with the wine" which is what I wanted to begin with so - it wasn't so much that he pointed this detail out to us- it was his tone. It was pretty aggressive and not friendly. Whatever, we moved on and we orderd two pizzas. I ordered 2 glasses of wine and my wife ordered her usual 1 glass of wine. After our pizza arrived to the table, I asked the waiter for 2 glasses of water- a normal request in which the response should have been " sure, no problem." The waiter stumbled with his words for a few seconds - because he knew how ridiculous what was about to come out of his mouth. He said " argh argh argh argh......we should have explained this at the beginning when you sat down, but our tap water isn't working." He offered us a choice of sparkling or still water for purchase. This is where my head filled up with a magnitude of questions such as, "how is the restaurant functioning without tap water?", " how are they filling pots without tap water?" Are the bathrooms out of order?" " and if the bathrooms are out of order, how is the restaurant open?"
I don't like dishonesty. My wife already had a stressful day and our night out was supposed to be enjoyable. While the food was decent, we won't be returning. If the restaurant wants to upcharge patrons for water, at least be honest and don't make up a cochamamy story that the tap water isn't working. It's an insult to our intelligence. Additionally, I could see the expressions on other patrons' faces when they too were told about the water saga. They didn't believe the story either. No thank you. ...
Read moreAfter a long day of work I was looking for a quick bite for dinner. The menu looked really interesting online so we decided to try it out. I called in an order of pasta with meatballs ($19 btw) and my girlfriend ordered a sandwich. We were hoping the pricetag would reflect some semblance of quality food and customer service... wrong.
After driving all the way back home with the food I found that I was given just a side of meatballs... not what I recall ordering. So I called back, and after being put on hold for a few minutes the girl on the other end rudely told me they couldn't refund the order and I would have to drive back to get the correct food. So all said and done between 2 trips there and back I wasted over an hour of my time. The manager was very unpleasant and the food looked like glorified dog food. Needless to say we will never be going back.
I highly recommend Cuginos in the Pennington area if you want Italian. Friendly service and great food. We'll be sticking to what we know...
Read moreThis is my go to place for pizza in Pennington, NJ. It's my go to place for several reasons: The pizza is a thin crust that is baked in the oven and absolutely delicious. It's crisp, yet doughy. It's got that nice smoky flavor from the crumbles in the oven, but does not taste burnt. All of their ingredients always taste so fresh. Their sausage, you can taste the fennel, their tomato sauce, you can taste the tomatoes. Their peppers taste like peppers. Their mushroom pizzas have the essence of mushroom in them. The flavors vibrate. This place is very popular. Sometimes the service isn't the quickest but the food is definitely fresh and worth the wait. I'd plan to make it a nice dinner here instead of a rush in and dine kind of place. Have a drink. Get an appetizer. Laugh with your friends. Make new ones!
I could not recommend this place more. It's my favorite pizza place in Pennington and I believe that everyone...
