Ugh, this place. I literally only go here when Pennington Bagel is closed (which is unfortunately often) and every time I regret it. This last time was the final straw, I will never be back.
The biggest issue? The rancid lox cream cheese that my son and step-mom ordered that gave them both stomachaches. Disgusting, how can you serve rotten food? The health dept should check this out.
Other smaller issues were that the person taking my order made a mistake with literally every item I told him; thankfully the screen is there so you can see what they’re typing in and I was able to correct them all (it wasn’t a complex order, everything was straight off the menu). Then they didn’t put SPK on one of the bagels that we wanted it on.
The bagels suck and I don’t think they’re made on site.
Literally no one enjoyed their sandwich, though of course the worst of it was the two people who got sick from the bad lox cream cheese.
They have a kiosk where you can order but it doesn’t work and they want you to print out the ticket and take it to the front anyway.
It took about 20 minutes for them to make 6 bagel sandwiches. 3 of the 5 employees were just sitting around behind the counter this entire time doing nothing.
This place is terrible! Save...
Read moreThis business does not accurately represent that they will contact you if your order is not a match for your food restrictions. While I ordered gluten and dairy free food and noted that on my order, I was served a gluten free cheese filled product. The employees do not know what is in their products without you asking and will not look into it to make sure. After I called to ask for the ingredients list, I found they did not know without looking and thus did not call me to let me know. Even though I checked a box requesting a call if the food did not match my allergens. Then the owner called to repeatedly tell me it was all my fault. I never said it was their fault I ate the food. I think they should not give an option to have them call you if the food doesn't match your needs if they are not going to do that. And it truly felt like the owner was drilling shame into me that I did not make sure the bagel had no dairy. He himself did not know the gluten free bagel was made almost entirely of dairy without getting and reading the bag. Worst customer service experience I have...
Read moreI’ve been going to Deli on a Bagel for 8 years- as long as I’ve been working at the nearby school. I’ve seen it change management numerous times, but the current management is the best thing to ever happen to this location.
Their food is fresh, with a wide array of options and a modern assortment of juices, hot sauces, and spreads. I’ve eaten breakfast and lunch there too many times to count, and have never been disappointed.
But for me, what keeps me coming back to Deli on a Bagel is their fabulous staff. They are young professionals who work to build connections with their customers by learning their names and preferences. They have a true gift of making you feel like you’re the only person in the store. Their customer service is only outmatched by their kindness. In fact, one morning I watched their cashier run to the parking lot to help an elderly patron across the sidewalk into the store. That sealed the deal for me.
I highly recommend their Greekie omelette for breakfast, and the Maddie P...
