After ordering for pick up a few times over the past couple of months, I can say the food is overall very good, however there are major flaws with customer service and times. Last month, I placed an order in the afternoon for pick up. The wait time quoted was 15-20 mins, however soon after I arrived to pick up, the owner stated that they were swamped and would need more time. The wait times given initially were short, so I just decided to wait. Ultimately all the estimated time given were incorrect by over 1 hour. While the owner provided a discount and apologized, I wasn't happy with the service. Today 2/22 I placed an order at 5:51pm. I was given a ready by time of 10-15 mins due to the Pizza which can take some time. As I arrived they promptly accepted my payment. As I waited I could tell they once again misquoted a wait time. As I approached the wait staff, they claimed they could not give me an accurate time of when my food will be ready. I explained what occurred the previous visit and was quickly told that they had no control over their sister restaurants time on when pizzas would be ready. As I continued to speak, I was told that I should stop screaming as this won't help. I in fact was not scream but upset as this happened again and quickly asked for a refund. As I waiting for them to refund, I was told my other food was ready and that I could have that if I didn't want to wait for the pizza. This grasp for any money was the worst part, as they had completed partial of my order, which would then be cold if the pizza took much longer.
In the end, I hope to contact the owner and have this situation escalated. The quoting of estimated times needs to be adjusted and overall hire better staff. They were not well versed in Indian cuisine and showed no empathy for the customer.
There will not be a subsequent visit and will be continuing to spread the word in Pennington/Hopewell area to...
Read moreI just got back from my lunch at Nimbu. I had been fighting a cold for several days and wanted some food with a little heat to help burn out the affliction. This was my first time in, and I was so excited to see that this was not like other Indian restaurants in the area in that it specializes in chaat; basically Indian street food that you would get at stands or stalls all over the subcontinent. Don't go to Nimbu if you are looking for a plate of butter chicken. Do go to Nimbu if you want to have reasonably priced nicely portioned Indian style tapas. I had the pani puri which are crunchy pastry balls filled with chickpeas, onions, and spices served with a green "spice water" that you spoon into a hole on top of the ball before popping the whole thing in your mouth. They are served room temperature and have a nice combination of textures and flavors (the crunch of the semolina shell, the vegetable crunch of the onions, contrasts with the tender chickpeas). The other item I had was the vadu pav, a savory spiced potato fritter sandwich with a red chili spread on the bun. It came as two slider style sandwiches. It was excellent. The chai (which I had two cups of) was clearly made from scratch and was beautifully spiced with an appropriate level of heat (from black pepper) to suit local tastes. If you have only ever had chai made from concentrates, do yourself a favor and go try the real thing on a cold day. You won't regret it. This. a great lunch option for those who are looking for a genuine balance between portion size, quality, and price. I will be...
Read moreNimbu in Pennington takes a unique approach to chat food, blending traditional flavors with contemporary twists. Here's a detailed review based on our recent visit:
Ambiance: The atmosphere at Nimbu is vibrant and inviting, with a decor that strikes a balance between modern chic and nostalgic touches of Indian street food culture.
Food: Our experience was a mixed bag, highlighting both hits and misses: Pani Puri: We had high hopes for this iconic street food staple, but it fell a bit short of our expectations. While the puris were crispy, the filling and tangy water lacked the depth of flavor we were craving. Bhel: The innovative take on bhel was a delightful surprise. The fusion of textures and flavors made this dish stand out, offering a refreshing twist that was both satisfying and memorable. Drinks: The beverage menu is commendable. We thoroughly enjoyed the drinks, which were not only well-crafted but also complemented the chat dishes perfectly. Main Course: One area for improvement is the main course selection. The limited options left us wanting more variety to complete the meal experience.
Service: The staff were attentive and friendly, enhancing the overall dining experience with their prompt service and welcoming demeanor.
Conclusion: Nimbu offers an interesting foray into chat food, with some standout dishes and room for growth. We look forward to seeing how they continue to evolve their menu and refine...
