Pennington Pizza & Grill — Restaurant in Pennington

I gave it a 2 because the pizza is still good. But I was pretty annoyed that the owners are price gauging their menu instead of updating prices. I went in this evening (6/2/22] and ordered just a large pie and fries which came to a total of a little over $20! I asked him why so much, your menu says that a large pie is $13.75. The guy said..."due to COVID prices have gone up, there are signs everywhere." I can understand that prices have gone up everywhere, but I asked why he didn't update the menu to reflect that. He told me he can't because of prices. So to me that means prices here can be what he decides that day based on God knows what or how he does?!! That's not an excuse because the Chinese restaurant - Cheng's Kitchen - next door and numerous other restaurants in the area are clear with their menu prices even if they have increased! This owner decided because of the "uncertainty of prices" he can practice price gauging and taking advantage of customers in this area. I cannot support such business or people who are this dishonest. The previous owners at least were honest and great people who knew this community. Trust that this is coming from someone who's lived in the area for over 30 years!...

I don’t ever write bad reviews, and always give places a chance to make things right/ however after this bad experience, and only being offered a restaurant credit to use another time(which we did not accept) I am. We ordered our food at 4:45- it came at 6:35. Our food arrived ice cold. Our calamari was not only cold but soggy and rubbery. Pizza was ice cold to the touch. Pennington would not replace it or pick it up. What a waste of $85. Their excuse was it was “cold”outside. The outside temperature was 60 degrees- We told them we were not going to eat it and to pick it up, they refused. This is not the first time our delivery was cold, however this time it was ice cold, obviously it had been in the car for a long time before delivery. Do not order takeout from them unless you enjoy ice cold food. We did not ask for a discount- we wanted them to pick it up and refund...

Ever since childhood, this has been my favorite pizza place. I moved away from the area but have made picking up a pie part of my tradition of visiting NJ.

I must say that there was a period of time when the quality took a nose dive, not sure if it was new staff or just a rough patch. But the last two visits have resulted in the perfect cheese pizzas that I remember from the old days.

The owner is very polite, we laughed together over a live wire hanging on the side of the building left by contractors remodeling the complex. Just have to shake your head, lol.
