Let me start by saying that the Bagel and Bread house has good sized bagels and they are most certainly fresh. The service is friendly and quick to get an order ready. The establishment is clean and welcoming to first timers. That being said I will not be going back. First and foremost they don't have the prices for anything listed, like anywhere. There is a big sign of a menu hanging on the wall as well as paper menus you can grab to browse will in the store, however neither one of these has the cost of anything on it. I asked the person who rung me up if they have the prices of anything posted anywhere that I was missing and after asking another co worker she told me they don't. When I asked if she could tell me how much for a bagel she told me she wasn't sure, I asked the cost of a few other things I was interested in like the whitefish salad sandwich and she couldn't tell me. Personally if I'm going to a business I want to know what I'm paying for. I asked for lettuce, tomato, and onion on my whitefish bagel sandwich which I got...very little of. a very thing layer of whitefish, literally a few shreds of lettuce, a thin tomato sliced in half, and maybe two rings of onion. it felt very cheap, despite costing me roughly $7. If you don't care about cost, I'd say it's a great place to get bagels with lots of selection of flavors. No matter the quality of the product, there is something about being in sales and not have a clear indication of the price of what you're selling that just...
Read moreI heard about this establishment from bakery workers on Moreland Avenue. I ecided to try them for my son's 10th birthday this past weekend at Alverthorpe Park. We had a Pavilion from 10 am to 2 pm so I was struggling for portable breakfast into lunch fare. My son suggested we have bagels. I ordered 5 dozen bagels in assorted flavors - 2 1/2 Savory (Sesame, Chedder Cheese, Everything, Plain) and 2 1/2 sweet (Blueberry, Apple Cinnamon, Cinnamon Rasin and French Toast)...along with assorted spreads. The Bagels from Bread & Bagel Shop were a HUGE SUCCESS with thirteen 10 year old boys and their accompanying parents. Light and airy, just the right amount of chewiness...and best of all? This was a fishing birthday party and NO ONE wanted to use the bagels as sinkers, which often happens. I recommended B&B House to every parent at the party - a suggestion to the B& B House would be to include a few business cards on the Bagel trays or slap a sticker with contact info on the tubs of spreads. We wll be back and we're...
Read moreThe Service: They were so focused on friendly and attentive service that they forgot to charge me for my order!
The Food: I asked for a cheese steak & fried egg sandwich on a toasted spinach bagel topped w/fried onions, sweet peppers, jalapeno-cheese, and ketchup. It came out almost as soon as I had poured my coffee (a satisfying breakfast blend). That sandwich... built very robustly, it was like biting into a pillowy cloud of carbs and savory breakfast items, the textures of which were perfectly in sync with each other!
The Atmosphere: While I ate, it began to get busier and busier. A man wearing house shoes and blue bathrobe walked in for takeout with his friend. Behind them were two elder gents who took to the table next to me and began discussing their assets and interests. It's a small space but not cramped. No frills, Dietz n Watson menu boards are the main decor in here, but it's the super casual and delightful experience that draws folks...
