I might update this review in the future, but right now it's 1 star. My first trip to Akashi I was greeted with a 30 minute wait at a restaurant with 4 empty tables and 2 spots at the sushi bar. I wasn't allowed to sit at the sushi bar as it was part of the wait as well. After 15 minutes I felt silly waiting for a table at a nearly empty restaurant. Tonight was busy, but again, 2 spots at the sushi bar. This time we were allowed to sit without waiting. After about 10 minutes our waitress asked for our drink order, except we didnt have drink menus. No problem, she said she would get us a couple of waters and drink menus right away. Another 10 minutes go by and our waitress comes back with 2 waters, no drink menus, and leaves before we can let her know we've been ready to order something to eat. At that point we gave up and left. I'm willing to give it another shot, but maybe after they hire more/better staff.

11/2/2018 update - Adding 1 star because we were finally able to eat the food and it was decent. Service was still horribly slow, and our table was filthy when we were seated (grease/sauce all over the seats, food and chopsticks all over the floor under the table, table had not been wiped down). This was not the fault of our server, but the fact that she seemed to have to cover the entire restaurant. This was strange because there was a group of servers hanging out in the back not really doing anything. I really hope that Akashi gets their act together, because this is not cheap food in the least, and there are too many other options for good Asian food in the area for this kind of sloppiness to let fly. Best of luck to you, but I won't be stopping by Akashi again...

Akashi, a restaurant offering a mix of Chinese and Japanese dishes, provided an overall pleasant dining experience, though there were a few hits and misses in our meal. My husband opted for the sashimi platter and a spicy scallop hand roll, both of which he absolutely loved. The sashimi was fresh, and the hand roll had a satisfying balance of flavors and a slight kick from the spice, making it a standout.

I went with the family entree, which came with a choice of soup. I chose the wonton soup, but unfortunately, the wontons didn’t meet expectations. The texture was off, though the broth itself was flavorful and comforting. The appetizer platter included an egg roll, which turned out to be my favorite part of the meal, along with a fried shrimp and a crab wonton. While the shrimp was fine, the crab wonton had a creamy filling that I found a bit rich but still enjoyable.

For my entree, I selected the Mongolian beef, but it was a letdown. The dish was far too charred, overpowering the natural flavors of the beef and lacking the anticipated spice. It felt like the dish had missed its mark in flavor balance.

On a positive note, the atmosphere at Akashi was warm and welcoming, with friendly service that made us feel comfortable throughout the meal. While some of the dishes were great, others, like the Mongolian beef and wontons, left something to be desired. Still, the restaurant shows promise, particularly for those in the mood for fresh sushi or...

If I could give 0 STARS I WOULD!!! I had been a loyal customer of Akashi and had constantly came to Akashi for sushi all the time!!! However I had went to go get sushi tonight and had the worst customer service EVER!! I had accidentally ordered the wrong order tonight and I had realized it when I got in my car to check the food I then went inside to see if I could switch it out for something else because the food is RAW and I don’t like raw sushi! I was very polite and calm about the situation however I was met with HOSTILITY and AGGRESSIVENESS from the MANAGER. This very unprofessional!! I had just simply stated that I wanted to switch it out however I was told no and that the ticket had already been processed and the food was already paid for then I had requested a refund for my money because I’m not going to eat raw food. I had been polite the whole time and nice about it but he still continued to be hostile! This is not okay. After I had persisted about the refund the manager had snatched the food out my hand and had went to finally give me a refund for the food. The receptionist that was there however is extremely kind!!! She had offered to get the manager for me when I had requested it and I apologized for the inconvenience it had caused her and she told me that it was fine. Honestly GREAT service from the receptionist and HORRIBLE service from...

This place is amazing! The service is exceptional and friendly, and they make sure you have whatever you need. The restaurant is clean, the seats are comfortable, and there is very aesthetic, color-changing lighting. There are plenty of tables equipped with a bottle of soy sauce. But what really matters about a restaurant is the food, and Akashi absolutely nails this aspect. I ordered sushi at a restaurant for the first time here, one California roll and one Philadelphia roll. Each roll consisted of 8 pieces. I really enjoyed the Philadelphia roll. The California roll was good as well, though I personally think that I would enjoy sushi with fish. Like I said, this was my first time having sushi at a restaurant, and the sushi here is delicious. The family dinner is also tasty and gives you a choice of soup, an egg roll, a crab wonton, and a choice of entree. It’s a good way to get a lot of quality food for a lower price than most places: $16.95. I also familiarized myself with chopsticks, though my younger brother caught on faster than I did. Overall, this is a must go if you’re looking for delicious food for a good price.

We came last night, food was great, restaurant was very nicely done, (feels and looks very trendy). If they can train the hostess on at least the basics of the business, (she told me she hasn't read the menu yet), so many customers left because the waiting time was extremely long, even though several tables were empty. And if they get a couple of professional waiters, this place will be very successful, I really really hope so. Will be coming back in a later day. 5/25/2021. We came back a few days ago. Food was fantastic! The service was incredible! The improvements are very noticeable, way to go guys!
