There is always a favorite spot for everyone, whether a museum, library, or park. Everyone has a go-to place where they feel at home and have the best time of their lives. In Houston, I can indulge in authentic Brazilian tastes in a relaxing setting at Angus Grill’s restaurant. The friendly service begins the minute I walk through the door, with the staff’s warm greetings and genuine smiles. Once one enters its realm, they will feel like they have been transported to Brazil in the Angus Grill. The aroma of “po de queijo,” the typical Brazilian cheese bread, fills the air and is impossible to resist. The swift arrival of these golden, cheesy spheres of bliss heightens our eager expectations (Angus Grill Brazilian Steakhouse). This preoccupation with cuisine and the friendly service creates an inviting atmosphere ideal for embarking on a new gastronomic journey. As the trip progresses, one’s attention is naturally pulled to the vast salad bar, which, like a farmer’s market in Brazil, has an assortment of fresh, vivid, and crisp greens, pickled delights, a selection of exotic cheeses, and beautiful arrays of fruit. The items are all carefully displayed, creating a beautiful feast for the eyes. The customers are serenaded by a soothing music medley reverberating off the lofty ceilings of the restaurant. This musical touch compliments the gentle candlelight that throws a lovely shine on the polished oak tables. The Angus Grill is perfect for family dinners and date nights because of its casually elegant environment. A two-sided card, one green and one red stands out from the others on the table. This coin represents the popular Brazilian barbeque concept known as churrascaria. A green light means it’s time for the parade of meats to begin, while a red light means the meal should be paused for a while. The inclusion of this engaging component elevates the eating experience. When I turn the card over to the green side, Angus Grill’s delicious meats make their big entrance. The servers come bringing skewers of shimmering, dripping, freshly cooked meats, proving the exceptional quality and freshness of the food (Angus Grill - Houston, TX). Tender sirloin, lamb, and hog join savory sausages and bacon-wrapped treats in a wide variety of cuts and preparations. Chicken Hearts are the undisputed champions of this carnivorous carnival in my book. They’ve been seared to perfection, so the outside is alluringly caramelized while the inside remains delicate and juicy. The delicious combination of ingredients permeating the flesh makes each crunchy mouthful a moment of epicurean pleasure. The Angus Grill takes pride in serving only the freshest and most flavorful ingredients in each dish. All the items are served at just the right temperature, exemplifying Brazilian hospitality’s warm and welcoming nature. There is no detail too little for Angus Grill to pay attention to when it comes to presentation. Large, white porcelain dishes are used for serving, their simple beauty creating a stunning contrast with the bold hues of the cuisine. The tablescape is just as eye-catching, with shiny silverware, clear glasses, and thick white linen napkins. The table’s beauty complements the delectable aroma and flavor of the cuisine. Eating at the Angus Grill is a magical experience since it combines several sense pleasures into a unified whole. An immersion into Brazilian culture, wrapped in a refined dining experience, is what you can expect from this restaurant thanks to its kind service, delicious cuisine, beautiful design, and relaxing atmosphere. This, coupled with calming aura, brings out the best when it comes to the dining experience and the mood of the customers. I always recommend this place to everyone I know because sharing is caring, and I try my best to make everyone happy around me with my...

Now I’m used to Brazilian steakhouses being more upper end; on the fancier side of dining. Especially when associated with 60$ a plate prices. Then enter the Mcdonalds of Brazilian steakhouse and you got Angus Grill. Their business is primarily built on Groupon customers. So pretty much if you walk in there without a Groupon coupon your a fool. But it’s smart for them.
Food:
*Salad bar- considerably smaller than most Brazilian Steakhouses. Maybe 10-12’ long. An acceptable arrangement of food but not the variety of its competitors.
*Soup- only one to choose from. There should two to choose from but at last just one. What tasted like a can vegetable with some spice added. Spicy for vegetable soup.
*Meats- we sat for an extended amount of time before the first meat, a sausage, came to the table. It was seasoned well. Very hot. Then another extended period before a meat came through so you could fill up on the doughy bread. In all there were only four different meats brought to the table. Four compared to 7+ at other similar establishments. Only the sausage was hot. The steak slices were cold. I get they cool fast when cooked blood dripping rare but then find a solution like just do one skewer at a time.
Service: At no time during the entire meal someone like a server come by to see if we wanted more drinks or anything for that matter. Never. Only the meat runners. No check was ever brought to the table leaving us to go up to the hostess.
Pricing * IMPORTANT*Pricing The Groupon is for approx $55 for dinner for two. Not included is tax, tip, and service fee. They price this based on the full price of the meal and that’s $60/plate. So even though you paid $55 you’ll be taxed illegally on $120 and the 15% service charge is also based on the imaginary full retail price. Now this is illegal and I plan to report them to the Texas Comptrollers office. If you’re bad at math I’ll here to tell you, just paying for one glass of freezing cold red wine (they keep red cold for some reason), at $11 for nasty house wine, $20 service fee, and $10 tax, plus written in $10 tip i was at an additional $50 on top of the $55 Groupon. So i in the end spent more money going to the budget Brazilian Steakhouse when i could have spent the same going to a fine dining establishment.
I rate this my biggest scam i fell victim to in 2023 and have tried to give detailed reasons why the Groupon is not a great deal. Why this restaurant is not a good deal and why you should likely go to nearly any other Brazilian Steakhouse other than this, no parking, bad tasting, no service, on a budget, Brazilian Grill.
Put plainly, if i were facing execution tomorrow and offered Angus Grill as my last meal, well, I’d rather die starving.

Read moreA Cautionary Tale: Groupon Deal Leaves a Bitter Taste
I recently purchased a Groupon deal for a meal for six, hoping to enjoy a pleasant dining experience with friends. Unfortunately, the reality fell short of my expectations. To future Groupon users, I would like to emphasize the importance of reading the fine print before making a purchase.
Upon redeeming the Groupon, I was shocked to find that I was charged tax and an 18% "service fee" based on the retail price of the meal, rather than the discounted Groupon price. This unexpected and seemingly excessive charge left me questioning the legitimacy of the entire deal.
Given the circumstances, I couldn't help but wonder if all the taxes collected were actually paid to the appropriate authorities, or if this was simply a ploy to extract more money from unsuspecting customers. The situation left me feeling as if I had fallen prey to a scam, rather than having snagged a great deal.
In conclusion, my experience with this Groupon deal serves as a cautionary tale for others seeking discounted dining experiences. It's crucial to read the fine print and be aware of any hidden charges or fees that may be lurking within the deal. As for me, I will approach future Groupon purchases with a more discerning eye and a healthy dose of skepticism.
UPDATE I appreciate it when owners take the time to respond to reviews, as it shows a level of engagement and commitment to customer satisfaction. In light of the owner's response, I am updating my review and adding an extra star for their effort to address the concerns raised.
However, I must note that the response did not adequately address the core issue regarding the Groupon deal. The tax and 18% "service fee" based on the retail price of the meal remain a point of contention and continue to cast a shadow over the experience. It would be beneficial for future customers if the owner could provide a more transparent explanation of the charges associated with the Groupon deal.
In conclusion, the owner's response is a step in the right direction, but there is still room for improvement when it comes to addressing the concerns surrounding the Groupon deal. As a customer, I hope that future experiences with this establishment will be more positive and that the concerns raised will be taken into consideration for the betterment of...
