Stars Sports Bar & Grill — Restaurant in Texas

This is easily my favorite spot in Katy. I’ve been going to Stars almost every week for nearly 10 years now. Obviously the staff has changed here and there but I’ve been always amazed to find that the new staff were every bit as kind and wonderful as the old staff; which makes it really easy to love the place all the more. As a regular, you begin to feel some amount of personal responsibility for the staff – like these are people who are a part of your life – and they will treat you like you matter… because you do, regardless of who you are.

The managers, Johnny and Homer, have always handled everything expertly as far as any of my interactions have ever gone with either of them. In seeing their interactions with others – I can’t say that I would have handled it any differently (in fact, I would probably handle it way worse). The bartenders (I’m not sure if they want me outing them) are kind enough to entertain our idiocy on a weekly basis when my bestie and I have our weekly beer and cigar session. When my wife and I stop off for dinner or drinks there, the bartenders all take the time to say hello to her and quickly catch up. (I’m 69% sure they like her more than me)

Those things also make it easy to recommend this place for the service alone. I’ve recommended this place to friends, family, coworkers, new acquaintances… anyone, really, because I know that they’ll be taken care of and looked after by amazing staff. When you scan the room and see other customers (?) (idk, I like the word patrons) almost all will have a smile on their face and nearly all are some of the most genuine people you’ll get to meet. If you find yourself sitting at the bar, there’s a pretty decent chance that the person you sit next to is a new friend that you haven’t met yet.

The food? Get outta here. Hands down the best burger in Katy; possibly the best wings on this side of heaven – frankly, it might also give heaven a run for its money if the Dodo still existed. (I like to imagine that the Dodo is the unicorn of the poultry world) My recommendations? Get the Stars Burger with everything on it and pepperjack cheese. If you’re feeling wings, get the bone in with Stars-sauce or if you’re feeling boneless, go boneless with Thai-Chili. Not feeling wings or a burger? You’re in luck. They have a fantastic array of sandwiches, wraps, and other entrees that I promise you are well worth the experience. The fries are next level, too, and if you want a good switch up, the onion rings are by far and away the best you can buy (like perfectly battered – I don’t know how it’s possible). I can’t recommend this place enough.

I do have one gripe. There is not currently an option to rent a pool table by the hour. I can get a hotel by the hour but not a pool table. To be clear, I can’t get a hotel room by the hour at Stars, either, so at least there’s consistency. But. If there were an hourly rental, I’d be quite the happy fellow. (for the pool table)

And come here. Please. The staff and patrons are friendly. You’ll be well taken care of and the food and drinks are out...

To the owners of this place: You need to know how bad Homer treats your costumers. Last night ( as I've been doing for months) I went there with my friends to eat and have a good time like we do every Wednesday and when Johnny, Bethany and Ashley are extremely wonderful, cordial, social and go above and beyond. This week, we decided to go on Tuesday. HUGE MISTAKE. From the moment we sat down, our waitress (Bell) will take for ever to come to our table even tough the bar had very little people at the time I was there. We had to ask multiple times for things that we order, like drinks, butter or crawfish refills because she said "she didn't hear that" but it happened more than once. The last time we order crawfish refills, one more time she did not put the order in, and when we asked almost 15min later is when she actually placed the order.... about 20 min after that I had the idea to ask this Homer person what happen with our food because it has been over 30min at point to which he reply that was not true and started arguing with me even tough I told him she put the order in after we asked for the 2nd time. He continue to be rude, offensive and disrespectful so I just requested my bill to which he reply "Good because no one wants you here". Keep in mind that only myself requested the check, everyone else at the table was planning to stay a bit longer, but he brought everyone's check pretty much kicking us out. I have no idea what kind of training they are taking before they deal with customers, but let me tell you that is not the way NO ONE expects to be...

This is my 2nd time coming here. My 1st time iJust really wanted 2 shoot pool wit da Bro. My 2nd visit iCame with the Wife on a couples date. Service started off good. The server(she was also the bartender)was nice & suggested the Espolón margarita. They were PERFECT!! She knows what’s she’s doing behind the bar. But when it came her coming check on us & when we ordered a 2nd round. That’s when her service changed. iAsked a simple question about a price. She instantly snapped & said idk & I’m busy with a look of disgust on her face. Here’s the thing I’ve worked in the bar/restaurant business for industry for 15+ years. iKnow how overwhelming it can be from the kitchen side to the bar side. So iUnderstand how intense it gets when it’s a busy night.

Then a guy came up with a Stars tShirt on & started bussing our table & checking on Us. He asked how we were doing & iTold him. Let her know that I’m disappointed she started out great then the attitude. iSimply told him ya know just tell her tighten up!! He made our 3rd Rd of drinks.(His were even better lol) When she came back around a lil later iGuess he let her know what iSaid. ⚜️Things were definitely different. Her approach was very nice & professional.

Other than the small hiccup. This establishment is great spot to come relax. Enjoy some good food/drinks. Environment is very chill. I’m definitely coming here again for the Margaritas & the Beer battered Onion Rings.!! Highly...
