I love Beck's Prime and I've eaten at several different locations over the past 20 or so years. Their big burgers are made from beef that's ground fresh every day and grilled over a wood fire. They also have grilled chicken and grilled tuna, fries, shakes and malts, and beer and wine.
This review is for the Katy location on Grand Parkway. I've been waiting to post a review until the Katy location has been open for a while just in case they were still trying to get staff trained and work out the new location kinks. My first visit was the week after they opened and it was packed with people. I ordered a California burger. My medium cooked burger was actually pretty rare on one side and the bun was dry and a little hard even while soaked with the red juices from the undercooked burger. But the fries were perfect and my dessert sized chocolate malt was delicious. The next 2 visits were great. The burgers were great, the fries were great, the staff was courteous, and the restaurant was clean. The most recent visit was Christmas weekend. The burgers were good but the fries were cold by the time we got them and my malt wasn't mixed well, so there were big lumps of dry malt power.
I'm still a fan of Beck's Prime and I would like to see the Katy location do well. I'm giving 3 stars for the Katy location because when it's good, it's really good, but it's just not consistently good. I may update this review after I visit again in a few months. For now I'm just going to drive a few extra miles to go to the location on...
Read moreKaty keeps growing and with that growth comes new restaurants. One chain restaurant that just recently made its presence known is Beck’s Prime, a restaurant notable for its wood- fired food preparation.
Beck’s Prime features a walk- up counter where you order your food and drink and then wait to be served. It’s efficient and it takes little time for the food to arrive at your table. While you’re waiting, you can order a drink from the bar and if you order something like a salad, it will be served to you quickly.
Beck’s Prime is known for its grilled meats. They grill the meat over mesquite wood coals and they want to remind you of this the moment you walk inside. Not only do you see stacks of wood when you walk in the door, but you also smell the wood, as it fills the air and makes you feel like you’re attending an outdoor barbecue.
This Beck’s Prime location is a little smaller on the inside than expected, but there is enough seating that it shouldn’t be too crowded. Televisions broadcast the latest in sports entertainment so you have something to do while you wait for the food and while you eat. Once the food arrives, you can sit back and savor the deliciousness. The burgers, steaks, etc all feature the added flavor that mesquite wood grilling brings and it makes for a satisfying meal.
Prices at Beck’s Prime are a little higher than those of other, similar restaurants, but the food is good quality nonetheless. I’m glad we now have a Beck’s Prime close to home, and you can bet we will be making...
Read moreI took my son to the Becks Prime in Katy as he was hungry for a really good bacon cheeseburger. This establishment is definitely one to visit on your restaurant bucket list. We were immediately greeted as we walked in and felt welcomed. Ordering was a little tedious but only because of their selection of burgers... so many delicious options to choose from! We made our way to a booth after we placed our order and didn't have to wait long before we saw our food come out from one of the managers, Lee Green. I was impressed that he wasn't sitting in an office hidden in the back of the restaurant but actually working in the kitchen with his staff, serving up to the patrons as well as checking in with each guest, and even helping his staff clean booths/ tables so that there was always a booth/ table ready for the next customer. The burgers were cooked to perfection with fresh veggies and thick bacon, the french fries seasoned just right, and even the soft serve ice cream is "oh la la" - thick and creamy, not icy like some other restaurants. This Becks Prime is very clean, organized, and welcoming to all patrons. The staff checked on us, including Mr. Green, and I was pleased to see that they had such professionalism and enthusiasm for not only their restaurant, but for one another. If you haven't bitten into one of the best burgers in town at the best restaurant in town, you need to get there and meet Lee Green and...
