Stopped by after work today to check out the new "spot" in town. Well let me tell you...we were VERY impressed! Because it was a soft opening we were treated immediately at the door with complimentary sparkling wine (what a fantastic touch)--it was very tasty too--not too sweet--just like we love it! The food was fabulous! It had just enough variety, not so many items where you cannot decide what to eat. Food was fresh, mini lobster cakes were a bit oily--but flavor had a wonderful soft balance. The terriyaki salmon was cooked to PERFECTION with the ginger flakes on top--in fact I wish it had more of the sauce on it. My husband had the Houston Roll and it was very fresh. The wait staff were incredibly friendly.
Decor was very pleasant. If you had some swank curtains, and lighting above the half walls or some sculptures with lighting to divide the room and give it a bit more "swank" this play would kill the game on this side of town! Real talk! Add a little jazz / fusion background music...for some ambiance and this place would receive 5 stars. Your almost there, yal!
Do not let the exterior fool you! It is a bit confusing as the outside is a bit "Red Lobster" like but the interior has a minimalist fresh appeal. Blue Claw may still be trying to find its audience and doesn't want to be too swank to run off the many blue collar workers, but not too casual where it doesn't appeal to those who want a little more upscale dining. This is my guess. We will soon have a lot of new population in the area with Apple AI and NVidia opening up the street in 2026. Don't be afraid to be a little more upscale. We have enough causal dining around here.
If you want something new...try this place! Stop driving by wondering, "Hmmm...I wonder what this place is like?" Trust me STOP by. Check out the specials (especially their happy hour).
My hope, Blue Claw, is that you can one day incorporate outdoor dining with closed in greenery (so customers do not stare into a parking lot) and this place could be the next best thing here. This place has HUGE promise! We were so surprised.
Portions: Perfectly portioned. We ate it all. Do not expect the colossal trough you get down the street. You won't miss that. Trust me. I prefer fish, fantastic well-portioned dishes, versus a mountain full of "meeeehhh" food any day.

Pricing. Seriously yal, we were splurging today. We were ready to spend $85 dollars. Check this out: sushi (a very large roll), mini lobster cakes, terriyaki salmon with ginger, and a $5 happy hour caramel martini---for $49.00! NOT KIDDING. I spent $50 for two people at Chipotle yesterday with ZERO seafood on the menu! I know this was lengthy, but we are in such desperate need of great restaurants on this side of town. I hope they maintain their quality. You guys certainly have some new customers! Great place with...
Read moreBlue Claw Restaurant had a sign on the door stating soft opening. After working in retail is know before a store opens, they do a dry run. This is done to correct any errors. I had never encountered a soft opening, so I thought why not. When I walked in the door a young lady standing up front greeted me with a welcoming smile. As she took us to the table her co-workers acknowledged us, I thought impressive. We were out still celebrating my good friend birthday. The food was delicious I ordered calamari and she ordered nachos. The calamari was cooked just right and the nacho dip was delightful. I have never eaten corn in my nachos dip, i highly recommend you take it. Good atmosphere the drinks was on point as well. I totally enjoyed myself being apart of their soft opening. I meet the manager, assistant manager and my waiter Sandy was totally hands on. He gave us great service. I feel they laid out the red carpet for us. I can't wait to come back. They really spoiled my birthday friend she really enjoyed herself. Out of all the restaurant we when to this month I know she enjoyed Blue Claw the best. I will be back to dine in again at the new Blue...
Read moreWas immediately surprised by how nice this restaurant was after walking in. The outside is fairly plain, but the inside feels much nicer. Staff were all friendly and I was seated promptly. My waitress was exceptionally friendly and went over the menu with me, as well as explaining since socials and happy hour details with me. She checked in on me regularly, as did the manager of the restaurant.
I was greeted with a glass of champagne, and started with a shrimp cocktail. The shrimp were a good size and tasted fresh and delicious. It was served with both cocktail sauce and chimichurri, which was nice. The East Coast Mule was refreshing and mixed well, but did take a bit longer than I expected to come out given the low number of customers in the restaurant at the time. The lobster roll had a generous amount of lobster claw meat on it, smothered with a mix of celery, onion, herbs and a spicy aeoli. The bread was fresh, crisp and buttery. The manager mentioned that it is baked in-house.
I'll definitely be heading back to Blue Claw soon to try the sushi and other...
