Bohemeo's — Restaurant in Houston

As the name would suggest, Bohemeo's is a coffee shop with a Bohemian vibe, located far into the East End. The venue has an indoor area with with a small stage at the back and bicycles on the walls, an adjacent covered porch area, a courtyard with fountain, and a covered pavilion which also contains a stage. Seating is pretty ample with a decent amount of indoor and outdoor options. Based on the notices on the walls, it also seems live music is a regular occurrence on said stages.

The place offers a standard if not expansive coffee menu (not a lot of more unique options like flat white or matcha) with beans from local roaster Cruiser Coffee as well as draft and bottled beer, wine, and a pretty extensive food menu of appetizers, cookies, tacos, quesadillas, salads, and sandwiches. They also offer food specials, and when I visited, it was "Fish Taco Friday".

On this occasion, I was just there to get some work done and so only had the drip coffee, which was of a good smoothness and richness. The staff was very friendly, and there was a small crowd of people both indoors and outdoors. The only reason I'm giving it 4 stars instead of 5 is because, while I do like the decor and vibe, it didn't feel quite as cozy as I would have preferred for a coffee shop in which to work. TL;DR This place needs some serious fixing up. It's falling apart.

I've frequented Bohemeos since 2012 and they haven't upgraded much since then. The furniture outdoors needs to be upgraded or taken in to be fixed. Every chair and table is wobbly.

Table and chairs are often dirty and require customers to do a quick swipe over to clean them before sitting. On one than more occasion I've found old lettuce on the tables.

I love to spend time outside under the canopy, but in my last few visits, I've been put off by the overgrowing plants. Gardens are not taken care of and the fountain in the courtyard is breeding ground for mosquitoes. The last time I was there, the moss was spilling over.

I would think twice before hosting a community event here.The shorter woman with shoulder length hair (might be a manager or an owner) is incredibly rude and loud. Inside, people want to work in there in a quiet and calm coffee shop. I could still hear her having a conversation with another worker across the room even with my noise cancelling headphones on.

Many of the other workers are very friendly and I enjoy catching up with them.
