Chicano BBQ started humbly when Serafin selling ribs at YESS Prep Academy to his peers. Now, he’s slanging craft BBQ and delicious creations in the Heights.
The ribs are some if the best ribs I’ve had. Fall of the bone, peppery but slightly sweet that gives the meat a fantastic balance. Easily my fave. The brisket is the backbone of many menu items but on its own it’s a standout. Juicy and tender with a nice peppery bark that gives the brisket some bite. The helote brisket takes the same meat and adds helote style corn with crema and spices that makes this a meal.
The smash burgers and Big Tex burger are pretty much monsters that go great when you are leaving the nearby bar. On their own, they stand up although for me it’s a lot.
Other standouts are the poppers, the brisket torta croissant, and the brisket fries are great options that offer good value.
The nearby bar has some good drinks which makes a night out at Chicano BBQ well worth it. Even on its own, Serafin’s craft stands on its own and I...
Read moreI'm hesitant to share my post because I feel like we have a little underground Tex-Mex BBQ gem right in our neighborhood. It's not your typical mainstream Texas BBQ joint in Htown, and that's why it's one of my favorites.
I love that Chicano BBQ infuses cultura to some of his BBQ dishes. Great options to try are the brisket Elote, Croissant Torta and the Texas Twinkies (jalapeno poppers).
My brisket is great but really love the ribs. Might be the best ribs I've had.
We also enjoy the Brisket fries and Smash burger. What's cool about this place is you can also chill at the bar next door.
Sides are limited so don't expect the tradition BBQ spot sides here like the potato salad, charro beans, greens, etc. again that's what makes this place unique though. I'm going to be a...
Read moreThe Elote and the Texas Twinkie were 10/10 delicious. The brisket I had was lean and moist. Both were delicious. The ribs were good. I will come back again. This is a very good eating place. However, at 3:30, the line is long. They open up at three. I was there at 2 p.m., and I waited to make sure that I was able to get my food… So I ended up buying a rack of ribs, the Texas Twinkie, the brisket, and the elote. The only problem I had with this establishment is that one of the guys has a very long beard and it’s not covered and no one want hair in their food and especially by being hot this time of the year, that’s sweat in the beard. That’s the only problem I had if he could, please shave it or either cover it while he’s working around the Food.
Please stop by you won’t be...
