I love crawfish and this place is one of the best in that department. They are served steamy hot (not like some other places where crawfish is kept in a cooler) nicely spiced up ( you feel the kick but doesn’t give you runny nose) and they are fresh! The sausage was great; so smokey and tasty. I didn’t have corn (I don’t like corn) but my husband and my friends said they were great. So I will take their word. I like their patio. Tables are nicely spaced out. COVID freaks me out so I was so happy to grab one of their remote outside tables. So why three stars? First the layout. You have to order yourself inside the bar. The lines can get really long and all these people squeezing into same enclosed place in addition to the line for restrooms. And moreover the same enclosed place has the only entrance door to the bar. I mean imagine a small confined space; you enter the bar, you try to make your way to outdoor seating through the line for the restroom and a line for drinks land and a separate line for food. I mean there wasn’t even 1 ft between people. I think they can work on the layout. Secondly it can get family friendly, maybe a tad bit too much. Don’t get me wrong. I like families hanging going out with their kids. But at times there were too many kids and parents simply didn’t get them under control. They were running around screaming and getting too close to us and one of them managed to knock over a propane heater which freaked me out because I thought the kid was injured. At some point people at my table had to warn the kids as parents were nowhere to be found. Thirdly although it looks like a family environment, after 7 pm, the crowd tends to get drunk and becomes unreasonable. A drunk guy kept trying to hug my friend at the restroom line. I mean come on! It is COVID times!!! I don’t think I will go there again. Too bad they really have really good crawfish. So if you want to eat good crawfish, I think that is the place. But if you want to eat it in peace, definitely...
Read moreIt was Fat Tuesday! Me and my sister wanted to eat some crawfish, listen to some good music and drink a beer. Honestly we wanted to meet at BB's but they were closed for a private party. So my sister found what she thought would be a good substitute. Considering the name The Boot and not far from BB's we decided to give The Boot a try. My Sister got there before me. When I got there she was sitting at the bar but she wasn't her happy glowing self. It didn't take me long to see why. The bartender/waiter was very unpleasant. My natural high was blown immediately. She was just dry and didn't even look our way. I immediately started looking around to see if it was a place us as blacks should be. To my surprise we were the only blacks in the place at the time. We were treated like we didn't belong, we felt like we didn't belong. My first mind was to get out of there but my sister had already ordered our food and had started on the crawfish. The crawfish was good they were bigger then most we had on a previous crawfish crawl. The sausage was good and spicy and the corn and potato was good. We both ordered the fried catfish platter and we were very disappointed. The catfish had absolutely no tasted. It looked as if it was fried in old grease. I asked the waiter for salt and drowned mine in hot sauce and I still didn't enjoy it. My sister couldn't even eat hers. She took her 2 filets and one of mines home to her doggies. She texted me later that evening and said the doggies didn't eat it. I asked the waiter if they had Mardi Gras beads. She said yes all over the place. I said, to hand out. She said, No. Then she came back and said, You can have the beads off the pelican he doesn't need them. I went to get one string of beads off the Pelican. I only wanted one. The one I chose she said, Oh no you can't have that one. That one belongs to the owner. I didn't take any of the beads. We left and we will be given The Boot just...
Read moreI was so excited to come here after reading reviews and looking at their menu online. I'm from Lake Charles Louisiana and wasn't expecting good home food. When I arrived I got a menu and sat down and found out that I had to come back to the bar to order my food. This is not a huge problem. The problems started to emerge when I ordered the combination boil platter which was supposed to have shrimp snow crab and 2 lobster tails and I was told that that was no longer on the menu. I was also told the menu had not been updated for over a year. That was a bad sign I should have known that the menu items that were created or probably far from their original state in which the Creator meant them to be served. So what I had to do is order a pound of shrimp for $15 and order a separate pound of snow crab for $18 which doubles the price of the menu item I originally was going to order. But I figured what the heck I want the full experience. My food was brought out to me in a basket. I was expecting a plastic bag tied up to conceal all the steam in the juices so your Seafood is not dry out. That is pretty common practice these days. My shrimp was boiled and covered with Tony sachere's. It was slightly overcooked. My crab taste as if it had never saw a pot of water it was so dry. I literally had to open all of the Clusters and the crab legs and scrape the meat from the shell. Also there was no seasoning inside of the crab only Tony chachere's on the outside. My date had the fried shrimp and french fries we also had a alligator bites as an appetizer which were very Bland. Alligator is one of my favorite appetizers I was so disappointed. Everything felt like the chef was super lazy and did not really care about the food he was putting out. The bartender was very nice she was helpful and accommodating. But I really wish I can get the $80 I spent on dinner for two back. Never...
