Lively, busy and loud, but the food is worth every decibel! The portions are generous with one exception: the hush puppies are tiny but delicious. There are only four to a serving but each is perfectly crisp with just a yummy hint of jalapeno.
We had plates from the Platter menu and the Specials. Platters come with salad and fries buu t they will happily substitute the house shrimp fried rice. My roommate had shrimp with stuffed crab which is only $9.75.
I had shrimp "Cancun style with fried rice. Each came with a bit puzzling slice of buttered toast . My blood sugar was trending low so I ate the toast and enjoyed it. The shrimp were grilled and came with sauteed onions. The sauce was tasty and spicy but swimming in grease. Ignore or blot it and enjoy the 15 small but succulent shrimp.
The fried shrimp on the platter were jumbo and exactly as good as you could hope for. The stuffed crab was pretty outstanding. Two come on the platter along with the shrimp. We both enjoyed the fried rice and would come back for that alone!
Menu prices are truly a good value with plenty of options under $10. Even the ultimate sea food platter was under $17. We both ate our fill and took home enough leftovers for another full meal each. This makes the prices even more reasonable. Soft drinks are not a bargain at $2.80 but they are served ice cold and with an ice filled glass. Water is free, with a slice of fresh lime.
There are so many tempting options that it was hard to decide on just one. The restaurant has a nice fresh oyster bar with plenty of options. You can buy some of the great fried seafood by the pound or half pound. We tossed ideas back and forth for our next visit.
We went knowing that Connie's is popular and considered a bargain and this was certainly our opinion after eating at the Long Point location. Don't expect a fancy restaurant because it's plain inside and out.
Don't go expecting a peaceful place either because it's just plain loud. That's likely why take out is so popular here. You may seriously consider that option and take your food somewhere peaceful.
Older reviews seem to complain a lot about an unpleasant odor here but we didn't experience that at all. We did smell frying sea food that we immediately wanted to eat.
Plates are generous enough to share or to have enough for a second meal or big snack. Very good seafood here at very good prices. Just bring your ear plugs if you have...
Read morebest of the best I love the pulpo a la plancha and the caldo de marisco. both are just amazing. Been coming to this same location for years. Maybe like 13 years in counting. Staff doesn’t change at all which I love. They know me and my family my our names and we know them by their names. We know so much about them like if they were cousins of ours. They Practically watched me grow up. The place was remodeled from the inside which is a nice touch which it really didn’t need since the food is just so good. I live about 20 25 minutes from this location and I never once complained about the drive. If I lived in another city I would still come all the way here just for their soup and octopus. Only downside is the parking. On a busy day you might have to park on the side or across the street at the convenient store since the parking lot is super small. Their is security outside so you know your car is safe. They have fresh seafood always. Bar on the far side of the tables which is very pleasant that way we don’t have to hear the drunks drinking away. Nice jukebox with great music. Will never stop...
Read moreI've lived for over two decades in the Spring Branch area and have passed by this establishment, wondering if this hole in the wall might present good food at a good value. Uhhh....to be truly honest i came away content, as i am not that picky about food. It satisfied my hunger but thats about it. Palatable, at best. Slathered in either cocktail sauce and/or tartar sauce, i plowed thru the hefty portions and couldnt wait to make my exodus. I like trying off the beaten path establishments. Have found many a gem that way. But, as they say, a diamond i mn the ruff, this is not. Its the "ruff". Folks working there are nice and hospitable and cater to their kinda clientele both in service, cleanliness and food quality. For a dad, looking for a cheap bite, it barely cut the mustard. As a place to take your significant other or family, i would think long and hard. Did i say i passed by this place for many many years....i did. Keep...
