I ordered what I thought would be curry chicken and a chicken patty today. it was my first time ordering and trying because I was referred here that their food was good. I was highly disappointed...in the flavors, quality and that I wasted my money. My chicken patty was more like chicken mush. I barely had any cabbage on my plate my food arrived cold even though they’re not located far from me but that’s a matter I took up with the delivery service already. The curry chicken was brown not yellow like curry chicken usually is and very salty. The rice n peas eh alright. I’m not sure if its due to covid because it seems like a few Caribbean places are not able to use their normal supplier or what but for this being my first time I was very upset with my order and end up throwing the whole plate away having to fix something else to eat. The only thing I enjoyed was the strawberry lemonade and I really wanted to support this place cuz I hate having to leave bad reviews I rather leave good reviews. Please work on perfecting your curry flavors and chicken patty or just don’t offer this at all. I honestly should leave 1 star but I’m leaving two just because I know the recipe can fixed if worked on more.
Updated 7/8 I had to change my review back to one because now I have food poison I been running back and forth to restroom all night & I know it wasn’t from what I fixed myself because it was a salad. The good reviews have to be from friends and family cuz ain’t no way.
Updated 7/10 your lack of professionalism in your response is exactly why I will not be revisiting and why I’ve told plenty others about this place And now will add on your horrible customer service as well to anyone I know that mentions your restaurant. I felt that it would be best to personally make you aware just to help you In the future by making sure something like this didn’t happen again but if this is how you respond to customers you most likely won’t be around too much longer anyway and btw I actually was a first time customer referred by another customer that eats there frequently and even they agreed it looked disgusting and was mortified by my experience and thought I should inform you. & please don’t say God Bless me if you don’t mean it. & what I said was that I eat at plenty different Jamaican restaraunts for over 12 years and I have noticed that their supplier has ran out of their usual ingredients lately so I was basically trying to give you the benefit of the doubt on why the food was so horrible maybe your usual supplier was not available. But clearly it’s just you and your lack of...
Read moreThis was honestly the worst Jamaican food I’ve ever had. This was our first time here & we’re extremely disappointed from beginning to end.
The Rasta Pasta was watery, salty, the penne was overcooked, & only about 4 ounces of chicken in the pasta when we paid an extra $9 for it. I don’t see why this is a popular menu item at all.
The Brown Stew Chicken was horrible. I received three bone in pieces of chicken; one was half a breast & it was mostly bone. The meat wasn’t tender at all, it was very tough. The rice & peas were bland & the cabbage was sour. I received a side of oxtail gravy & it was mostly oil & unusable.
However, the coco bread was delicious & the beef patty wasn’t bad either. Only downside is that it barely had meat in it. That & the flavored lemonades were the highlight of the meal.
Maybe the Creole items on the menu might be better, given that none of the staff in the kitchen are Jamaican.
Lastly, the atmosphere of the location isn’t welcoming either. You order from a kiosk that doesn’t print your receipt, there is no one working at the counter, you have to constantly knock on the kitchen door if you have questions about the menu. The tables are pushed together, there is no music playing through the speakers & the televisions are off.
I had high hopes for the food, we drove 30 minutes just to end up throwing most of it away before leaving the restaurant. There was no point in asking for a refund because the only workers are the kitchen staff (two people btw), but for $76 (including 15% tip) I feel as though it is owed for this experience.
Please do better.
Update: It seems as though the owner only responds to good reviews & not those that are critical and deserving of compensation or...
Read moreThe owner/manager is extremely down to earth and great to talk to. You can tell he really cares about the quality of his food and that it's prepared the proper way.
The restaurant is always clean and tables always wiped off. It smells good and there is always someone at the register when you come in.
I've had several different dishes here from the pasta, jerk chicken, fried wings, fish, several sides, to my favorite--oxtail. And the truth is the food is good like 7/10, 9/10 on a good day but is overpriced. Oxtail plates range from $30-$36 BEFORE tax and that is ridiculous. I've gotten as little as 4 oxtail pieces in a plate that have thick cuts of fat. Most of the plate is rice and peas with small portions of cabbage and they never give much oxtail gravy. That sucks because they're gravy is as close to perfect as I've had. I still go because I haven't perfected my oxtail recipe to taste how I want and I absolutely love oxtail. This is the closest place to my house. But I'll have to try harder at home with these plate prices. Lol. Their jerk chicken is very good as well, especially if you like it spicy. Pastas are a more affordable option that is pretty good.
As far as customer service goes, the manager is the only welcoming face I've encountered being in the restaurant. Everyone else is a little snarky, unhelpful, or just seems to have an attitude. The only exception is when he is there with an associate.
Regardless of everything, I will still continue to go at least once a month and hope for the best because it is a well structured restaurant. It's worth giving a try when you're...
