Taqueria el D.F — Restaurant in Houston

I was so excited when my friend asked me to go try out this authentic looking casual Mexican restaurant, I thought this would be my favorite place to go for a while, unfortunately it won’t be.

So we can on a Saturday night, and breeze was nice so we decide to eat at their patio, waitress was knowledgeable to give us advise since this is our first time here, I was eager to try their menudo since not every single Mexican restaurant would have it. Waitress said it should be very good, and sure I ordered it, man was it the worst I ever had. Definitely!!! The soup was so bland, there barely any stuff in there, my friend never tried it before and said it taste like watered down soup. I’m trying tho to be too picky, but it’s unavoidable. We raised the question to the waitress see if this is the end of the pot, she said this is always how it taste like, and the chef said nothing wrong with it. So if that’s what they believe then they don’t know what authentic Menudo taste like at all.

Enchilada was not good at all but if you eat it like a taco with lots sauce on it it’s great. If you know what I mean.

The torta is amazing, one of the best I had. Lots meat, bread was toasty and thin, love the sausage in it.

Overall it’s a decent meal, I wish they would be honest about their food taste. Probably won’t go back again unless I want...

I used to walk to this place atleast once a week. They're a lil pricey considering the size of the tacos, but I can tolerate that because they are literally down the street from my home. Until I realized that they were charging me for Pico.. Pico really? They charge to garnish your taco lol .... I can't make this up lol.... At a time were everything is going up but our pay, places like this find a way to gouge your pockets for no reason. You lose a customer because you choose to charge for something so small..

An update. For your health and safety, DO NOT SUPPORT THIS PLACE. The owner and his staff, DO NOT practice proper kitchen etiquette. I recorded THE OWNER working with gloves but not changing them. He literally touched everything around his kitchen and even walked away from the kitchen touching stuff and refused to change his gloves. An then got mad at me for recording. STOP SUPPORTING THIS PLACE. THEY DO NOT NEED TO BE...

I go here often, I had zero complaints but (there's always a first time) I went there yesterday and all I can say is that was the worse $106 dollars I have spent there. I order extra consome ($7.50) and I got a super small container that wasn't even filled out. When i called to complain about it the girl said that she gave me the small container because they run out of the big ones, I told her the right thing to do was to let me know about it and i could have made the decision if i wanted it or not, I order menudo, big disappointment again it had a BIG bone and barely any pieces of menudo.
