We have been here a number of times during the soft-opening and again today after the grand opening. Soft-openings are supposed to be for ironing out the kinks in your process and staff but there are a number of things that still need work.
First of all, we really like the food here, and the poke-burrito is a game changer. We never want to get bowls now because the burritos are so good. There are plenty of toppings and choices to customize your bowl/burrito so we've come back several times and will continue to do so. One suggestion: maybe you can offer brown rice for the burritos in the future? That would be a nice addition.
That said, after today's visit I realized that some things really need to be addressed. They are all pretty minor things that can be fixed with training, but it brought my overall experience down:
We ordered 2 burritos and the person preparing the seaweed paper and rice placed the seaweed paper for the second burrito on top of the rice cooker while making the first one. That's not exactly sanitary and shouldn't be happening.
The bamboo trays used to roll the burritos... only one fits on a metal tray, why are you putting two on one tray? The one hanging over the side was sliding around and messing up both burritos.
There were no cucumber or onion crisps available when we went today. We asked if they had more and were told you ran out during the grand opening promotion. Fair enough, but as I was paying, someone brought out more cucumbers and onion crisps... that was a disappointment as we both wanted those on our burritos and it was too late at this point. I mean, the onion crisps were literally right below the counter. All you have to do is check.
The cashier placed the cups for our drinks with the mouth side down on the counter. Come on, that is really unsanitary. People put money and god knows what else on the counters. Place the cups right side up.
Both of our burritos were placed on a single tray after they finished them. I didn't really think about it until I got to the table, but we each need a tray to eat over so we don't drop food all over the tables. The burritos can get a bit messy.
All of these things can be fixed really easily, and I hope they do get addressed as we really do enjoy...
Read moreI'm a food blogger and a personal cook..so when I go put to eat, I spend a lot of time researching places, their menu, and the options they have. I fell in love with poke in Hawaii on vacation and wanted to go to a place that offered a lot of options because I was taking my friend who had never tried it. I decided on pokeworks because they have a large selection of proteins, sides, toppings, and sauces Compared to other places. I called ahead to let one of the managers know I was coming and I would be taking video and pictures and ordering a bunch of food. Gabi at this location was absolutely awesome. When I came she took some time to explain to both of us what poke was, how it's served and some popular items. I got two different bowls with two different meat combinations and she took her time when my friend was trying to order and wasn't sure what to order. He absolutely loved poke as well. What I love is that they offer all the traditional poke meat but they also offer scallops, shrimp, tufu and chicken as well which you don't find at all poke places. I filmed in entire Vlog at pokeworks and we ate outside and the food was awesome and the whole process was quick and comfortable. You can eat a lot of poke and not feel horrible after words. They have a number of different toppings that are crunchy that I love like crunchy onions, a couple different types of crunchy seaweed, so their whole lineup is extensive. Their staff was also very helpful with other questions we had. It was clean and comfortable place and we ate outside on the patio. Gabby even came to check on us to see how we were doing. If you're going for poke and it's your first time I would definitely...
Read moreI recommend poke so much if you're a sushi lover, because that's basically what it is and much more because you get to pick what's in it, and there's a lot of options, one thing I don't recomend is the kale noodles that they have they make my wife sick 2 or 3 times, it took some time to figure out what make her sick until we figured out, other than that everything is really good you also get the option to make a poke wrap which is great, I really like going there when it's a hot day because just eating fish and salad makes you feel a little bit better and makes you forget the heat , so go and try it out! You won't regret it. No te...
