The prices are astronomical. We ordered Chilaquiles for $16.50 w shredded chicken, which was an additional $3.95. If you wanted it w beef it was an extra $5, and it doesn't come w a fried egg. Authentic mexican Chilaquiles come w a friend egg on top. So why is adding an egg to the entree an extra $2.95? 🤔 Not to mention, no additional sauces, free chips w salsa or even tortillas were offered with the entree. Literally, what you see in the pic, is what you get for a $20.45 entree. I also ordered an horchata, which is one of my favorite mexican drinks. I drink it all the time. Theirs was white and tasted like it was made with coconut milk and zero cinnamon in it. I had them take it back and remove it off the bill. We weren't paying $5 for a drink that doesn't even taste remotely close to what it's supposed to taste.
Here's the kicker, the chef Diego Navarro, came out to our table to essentially defend the horchata and argue w me about it not being made w coconut. Granted he offered me another drink, which I declined, but since when is a chef concerned about drinks, let alone be defensive over them?! Never have I ever. 🤦🏻♀️
Needless to say, we won't be back. I lived in Mexico for 10yrs. I love true authentic Mexican food. This ain't it. Better yet, the small venue across the street, Tio Trompo, is more authentic than this place and half the cost. Plus, the workers are a lot more pleasant and attentive.
Reply to Owner's response: The chef coming out to argue with a customer about how the horchata is not made with coconut milk, when the beverage itself not only TASTES like coconut but it was literally PURE WHITE in color without even the taste of cinnamon in it, wasn't about being understanding. It was pure gaslighting and defensiveness. Horchata is NEVER pure white, nor does it EVER taste like coconut. There's NO coconut in AUTHENTIC Horchata. I make it myself, from scratch. I even grind rice to make the flour that makes the drink. I know EXACTLY what goes in an horchata. If it's pure white, it means there's no vanilla, no cinnamon and no sweetened condensed milk....the very essential ingredients that make horchata. Period. There was no need for the Chef to get involved over a drink, to begin with. A simple apology would've sufficed. His demeanor came off rude, narcissistic and defensive. Why is he so involved in trivial matters, such as a drink? Is it that slow in the kitchen? 🙄 If so, maybe you should reconsider your prices and authenticity. Sincerely, 💜A lover of TRUE AUTHENTIC...
Read moreOur group of six came for Sunday brunch and left disappointed due to poor communication & service. I work in the service industry and value transparency, especially with pricing.
From the start, the owner made me move my car from an unmarked spot, setting a bad tone before I even walked in. When our group came in, the staff seemed overwhelmed with our party, even though it wasn’t busy.
I asked for water but was given a tiny cup while others with sodas had full glasses. When I requested the same, I got a medium mason jar which was still not equal.
The main issue was ordering our food of barbacoa tacos. My friend and I wanted just one taco each, as we had other lunch plans to go to and the server said okay when we each ordered just one taco. However, she came back to tell us we had to “share a plate” without any mention of price or portion size. The owner had to have told her something because she seemed fine on just a single taco when she took our order.
By the time the food came, we were shocked when a full pound of barbacoa arrived, and even more shocked by the $35 bill! Which was almost double to what others paid for full plates. That was the most expensive plate on the breakfast menu. No one warned us about this! Keep in mind that some of the other breakfast tacos that were on the menu were no more than $6 per Taco. This is mainly about the principle of being forced to share a plate with more food than what was asked for without any transparency.
The server then told us that they could not do a single tacos of barabaco and it was also because of the “time that we ordered it.” Smh
She then complained to our other friend, as if we didn’t wanna pay at all, which was never the case and Our other friend just ended up paying it on his tab. Which was never even supposed to happen! We are very disappointed to say the least and will not be coming back.
If you want a single barabaco taco here, you can’t: they’ll serve you more than you asked for and charge you premium prices without being...
Read moreGreat food but a little pricey! My kids and I decided to try out this place since we live nearby. It was clean and the server was very friendly. My daughter got the Chilaquilas (without egg or chicken) and my son and I each got the Conchinita Pibil Hot French Sandwich. The sandwich was really good and we each enjoyed ours. It is a pretty simple sandwich that just has shredded pork with pickled red onions. The flavors are really good and the side of habanero sauce is delicious. It's just that for $10 a sandwich, it usually comes with a side at other places or is loaded down with ingredients. The Chilaquilas was 12.99 and as you can see in the photo, it wasn't a full plate. Not that she needed a full plate but for the price... In addition to these 3 entrees, my son ordered the Horchata drink and he said it was better than the other one he's tried. So our bill pre-tip was almost $40 for lunch for 2 sandwiches, one order of the Chilaquilas and a non-alcoholic drink. The food was definitely good but cost more than most of our lunches. I will say that the sandwich was enough for me and I was stuffed when we left but I'm not sure that it would have been enough for my husband. I think if they brought the prices down a few dollars, it would draw more people in. The sandwich should be more in the $6-7 price range and the chilaquilas closer to $8-9. Just my...
