One of the best things about living in a metropolitan area like Houston is the abundance of Mexican and Tex- Mex restaurants, and I do love Mexican food! Having so many options also means that you can be choosy and skip over those that don’t meet your standards. One chain restaurant that passes my requirements is Ruchi’s Taqueria Mexican Restaurant, located near the Houston 610 South Loop.
Walking inside, it will be obvious that you’re in a Mexican restaurant, but it’s far more subtle than other Mexican restaurants, some of which take their desire to look festive to extreme levels. You don’t get that here. The decorations on the walls let you know you’re in a Mexican establishment but other than that, Ruchi’s Taqueria Mexican Restaurant keeps things simple. They don’t want to distract you with excessive attention to the décor. They want you to focus on the food and conversation.
Sitting down at your booth or table, you will get served the customary chips and salsa as a warm-up. If you want something more, they have a short menu of appetizers with about ten options. I find that I usually munch down on enough chips that I don’t want an appetizer. I focus instead on the main course, and I have liked what I have tried here. I usually go for the tacos al carbon or enchiladas Vallarta, or sometimes even a cheese quesadilla if I’m not too hungry. I have found the food good in overall quality and certainly worth the price.
Another positive at Ruchi’s Taqueria Mexican Restaurant is the service. The wait staff has always seemed very happy here. They seem to love what they do and are ready to make your visit as enjoyable as possible. So, all things considered, Ruchi’s Taqueria Mexican Restaurant is one that easily meets my standards, and I will continue to visit this and other locations when the need for Mexican...
Read moreI just ate here and received the worst service ever. There was hair in our food and we were only offered to replace the one taco that had the hair in it. The plate was taken away from the table after being told about the hair. Why would I want the plate back? We ordered a plate of street tacos. The shift leader today, he gave the name as Ryan accused my coworker of putting hair in her own food. Rule number one of customer service is always to help the customer. He was very rude in handling the situation when I was calm and did not display any of his "shift leader" skills. Why would a repeated customer that eats there at least once a week put hair in their own food? Never did we ask for a refund all we asked was for the food to be replaced so we could eat. When I made them aware about the hair I even got up and walked to the pay counter to speak so other customers wouldn't hear me that's how much I did not want to make a bug fuss about it. When I proceeded to pay for the food after he refused to make a new taco plate order he tried to charge me for the plate of street tacos we did not eat and I told him why would I pay for food I did not eat. He then told me don't worry about it and I said no I had two queso orders that we did eat so I will pay for that and I even tipped $10 to make a point that we were not trying to have a free meal. There was not a single bite taken from the street taco plate when my coworker and I saw the hair. I work close by and for 11 and a half years I have been eating there but after this I will never eat here again and I will tell others not to...
