One of the best things about living in a metropolitan area like Houston is the abundance of Mexican and Tex- Mex restaurants, and I do love Mexican food! Having so many options also means that you can be choosy and skip over those that don’t meet your standards. One chain restaurant that passes my requirements is Ruchi’s Taqueria Mexican Restaurant, located near the Houston 610 South Loop.

Walking inside, it will be obvious that you’re in a Mexican restaurant, but it’s far more subtle than other Mexican restaurants, some of which take their desire to look festive to extreme levels. You don’t get that here. The decorations on the walls let you know you’re in a Mexican establishment but other than that, Ruchi’s Taqueria Mexican Restaurant keeps things simple. They don’t want to distract you with excessive attention to the décor. They want you to focus on the food and conversation.

Sitting down at your booth or table, you will get served the customary chips and salsa as a warm-up. If you want something more, they have a short menu of appetizers with about ten options. I find that I usually munch down on enough chips that I don’t want an appetizer. I focus instead on the main course, and I have liked what I have tried here. I usually go for the tacos al carbon or enchiladas Vallarta, or sometimes even a cheese quesadilla if I’m not too hungry. I have found the food good in overall quality and certainly worth the price.

Another positive at Ruchi’s Taqueria Mexican Restaurant is the service. The wait staff has always seemed very happy here. They seem to love what they do and are ready to make your visit as enjoyable as possible. So, all things considered, Ruchi’s Taqueria Mexican Restaurant is one that easily meets my standards, and I will continue to visit this and other locations when the need for Mexican...

I just ate here and received the worst service ever. There was hair in our food and we were only offered to replace the one taco that had the hair in it. The plate was taken away from the table after being told about the hair. Why would I want the plate back? We ordered a plate of street tacos. The shift leader today, he gave the name as Ryan accused my coworker of putting hair in her own food. Rule number one of customer service is always to help the customer. He was very rude in handling the situation when I was calm and did not display any of his "shift leader" skills. Why would a repeated customer that eats there at least once a week put hair in their own food? Never did we ask for a refund all we asked was for the food to be replaced so we could eat. When I made them aware about the hair I even got up and walked to the pay counter to speak so other customers wouldn't hear me that's how much I did not want to make a bug fuss about it. When I proceeded to pay for the food after he refused to make a new taco plate order he tried to charge me for the plate of street tacos we did not eat and I told him why would I pay for food I did not eat. He then told me don't worry about it and I said no I had two queso orders that we did eat so I will pay for that and I even tipped $10 to make a point that we were not trying to have a free meal. There was not a single bite taken from the street taco plate when my coworker and I saw the hair. I work close by and for 11 and a half years I have been eating there but after this I will never eat here again and I will tell others not to...

Walked in.with my 2 kids n my wife 1/16/2022 at about 5:15.i noticed me being a black man all the servers just stared and ignored me n my family..though I am mixed and understood them saying whos gunna serve them in spanish.and my wife is hispanic to..I walked up to the counter to a lady im assuming was the manager she had glasses n regular clothes on a white long sleeve shirt.i asked her how do we eat and this is after standing for about 2 minutes at the door with them staring it wasn't even busy at all they were all talking.so she looks at me and says what do you need??I said were here to eat she said well go sit down anywhere someone will be with you.this was after her n the other server tried to walk away from the counter when I walked up...then I sit down and a guy named Francisco who was the best attitude person here made it a little better by being attentative and swift.so we sit by the door.next thing u know we decide to see how they treat everybody else.and if I tell u they were literally running up to Mexican families walking in only with menus in hand and chips ready to go..I mean every single one who walked in were met at the door.a black lady came in to pick up uber eats or something and they did her the same way the lady at the pickup side acted like it was an inconvenience for her to come in and pick up food.food quality sucked everything tasted old.and I planned on spending 100$ plus but decided to order cheap and did give Francisco a good tip.but never going back here again.should be renamed to...

Ruchi's Mexican Grill absolutely delivered on flavor and satisfaction with my recent to-go order!!! I had the Burrito Supreme with mixed chicken and steak and WOW. The filling was perfectly seasoned, generous, and packed with that bold, crave-worthy flavor you'd expect from a place that knows what it's doing. My only critique? The tortilla. It wasn't quite cooked through, so it started falling apart as I ate, which was a bit messy. That said, the taste was still on point, I still thoroughly enjoyed it. If that tortilla had been grilled just right... I mean, we'd be talking next level legendary. Endless possibilities! The shrimp tacos were a definite standout, juicy, fresh, and full of flavor. The chicken tacos were decent, though not as memorable. The side of beans ewww. Even though it was a to-go order, the service was fast and friendly, and the vibe inside was warm and inviting. You can tell this is a spot that locals love for good reason. I'll absolutely be back and next time, I'm hoping that burrito comes with a toasted tortilla and a side of greatness. *SIDE NOTE They stay open till 2 AM. This used to be a great after our spot to grab a bite to eat after being hungry or drunk after the club lol. Not sure if it still is but kind of cool to know.

I wish I could give ZERO Stars the food here is simply disgusting I went in and order a plate of enchiladas they took about 25 minutes to make them which makes no sense to me at all , when I received my food it was uneatable, the tortillas were so hard it was impossible to chew like they have been freshly taken out of a freezer . The prices are extremely high for the food quality served here they are charging you for food that is not fresh they place doesn’t look clean at all the person that was with me ended up getting sick from 3 tacos she ate there . After I sent the food back they told me I still needed to pay for one plate of enchiladas after I sent it back and didn’t eat it , what a rip off if you are reading this review DONT WASTE YOUR MONEY here drive somewhere else this is not even close to being Mexican .
