Snacks el Trompo Loco — Restaurant in Houston

We went to try this place out because of Tik Tok but let me tell u that not everything is what u see online. I ordered the tacos dorados de trompo and the tortilla was cold and not even crunchy. It seemed like they were pre-fried for later use and not made to order. The trompo was chopped up and not sliced like trompo is supposed to be and no flavor at all. The bistec was the only meat that was good. I then ordered the hot Cheeto birria balls and once again I was disappointed. There was no hot Cheeto dust and the “birria” was not birria. It was boiled beef with no flavor at all, and I mean none at all 🤢 the consomé had no flavor at all. I get the concept of this place but they’re lacking in flavor big time. The atmosphere seems like it could be a real fun spot to drink and hang out but I think I can see why this place was empty when we got there. They may have good snack foods or good drinks because the food just isn’t it. We paid $50 for 1 order of crispy tacos, 2 gorditas, an order of cheese fries and 1 agua de piña which btw that was more like kool aid and not an actual agua Fresca. I highly regret going there and don’t recommend anyone go here unless u want to be really disappointed or just be ready to add seasoning to everything since the cooks sure don’t...

I’ve heard people say they wouldn’t try food from Resfresquerias, they would rather go to a Taqueria or Restaurant thinking they would do a better job since that is what they are based off (tacos). Well let me tell you….. OMG los Tacos de Trompo are Boooomb here I give those 5 Stars hands down. El Trompo meat is so soft and the tortillas are soft but not soggy. Also this little tortillas usually taste so weird. But maybe it’s because they cooked em next to where the meat cooks retaining the seasoned juice 🤷🏻‍♀️ idk the thing is that they were not hard they were soft and tasty.

On another note, My partner ordered a Torta which she said was ok. But could have been way better with beans and a little more Mayo and Veggies. So she gave it 3 stars. We will be trying out more, specially the Fresas Con Crema and I will add another review, I didn’t add better pics of the food.
