Went there this past Saturday and unfortunately it is NOT what it use to be back in 2010. I graduated from Phillis Wheatley HS and would go with my friends after school everyday. But unfortunately the food and service is not the same. My 1st initial problem was when I pulled up at the "drive thru." I waited patiently for almost 10 minutes and ranged the bell multiple times. I figured it was not working or closed so I parked my car and got off. I asked the lady in Spanish, "is the drive thru open because I've been over there waiting for 10 minutes." She responded by saying in Spanish, "it is. I was just on a call." A call? For TEN MINUTES? While at work??? Crazy. So then I proceed to get back to my car, go to the drive thru and wait for my order. Got my order, made sure I had everything and left. I got 2 tortas and one gordita. Total $25. When I got home I proceeded to open my torta and thats when I noticed it had little to no meat. The torta had more lettuce than meat. So so disappointing. I've had BLT with more meat than this. I basically ate a thick bread lettuce torta with a side of no meat. Absolutely ridiculous! Then I proceed to check the gordita and it was the size of 12oz coke can. You could literally grab a can of coke, sit it on top, and there about the same circumference. CRAZY SMALL!!! This place is no longer the vibe. It's embarrassing because my military friends from out of town always ask whats a good "Mexican spot" to get food, and I remember 10 years ago this was popular, but this place is no longer the spot to recommend or even close to what it was before. In summary: after a long night of clubbing and drinking, the food might taste decent, but if you're sober... I can 100% promise you can really taste how subpar the food is at this spot. At 0200AM, you're better off getting some Jack in the Box crispy tacos or Whataburger right next to this food truck. This will definitely be my last time coming here. (Mind you, I live on the Northside! But I drove all the way here thinking it was good as before and instead wasted my gas, money, and time.)

The food is ok. I don't understand how people say this place makes good tacos. I would recommend the Perona Burger, but other than that, this place is just ok. There are many good taco trucks in Houston, so this is not a place that I would recommend. I ordered two combos, and on one of my orders, the beans were missing. The combo comes with a drink, and the coke was flat, and the diet coke tasted of mold. I told the lady that the drinks were not good, and she made a face and gave us replacement drinks. We asked for horchata and agua de Limon instead. I will never return. I feel that people should take pride in their food, and she should have said sorry about that and offered me another instead of me having to ask for a replacement drink. If you skip this place, you're not missing out on anything special. The truck has a drive-through option instead of walking up if you're interested.

To say I was disappointed is a massive understatement. I got the #8 three fajita quesadilla combo and the quesadillas were swimming in oil and the meat itself was sweating oil with every bite. By the end of my meal ( I was starving so I had to eat it) there was about 4-5 tablespoons of oil that were left over and I’m sure there was at least 4 more in the quesadillas. The Orchata was very mediocre and was slightly watered down, but I did actually taste cinnamon and that’s the strongest flavor it had. The salsas came in packets and just threw me off when I saw them. The salsa itself wasn’t bad though I only had the green one. I was also disappointed with the cilantro and the onions. After I ate some of the cilantro i noticed the bottom portion was browning so idk if they were using leftovers from the previous nights. Last crazy thing is I’ve never had plain French fries with tacos.

Okay, so you should know I am a crazy man for street food. I've traveled all over the world and there is something familiar and close to my heart when I eat street food. That's what this place is.

The tacos, hamburgers, and other fast Mexican food is standard fare here. It is inexpensive and you aren't going to be wowed by the food. It is okay. They have soda and agua frescas (Mexican style lemonade, sweet rice milk, etc.).

Because this place is a hybrid restaurant/food truck and stays in one place (it even has a drive thru), I know it is at least acceptable when it comes to food inspection in Houston. I have a bit of experience with that.

It is open 24 hours and right off the freeway. There is no seating but since it is an open stand sort of place, that's fine with me. I work over nights and I'll eat here again if I'm in the area. It isn't worth a trip but it is convenient and acceptable when you are close.

You may have some trouble with some of the staff understanding your order if you don't speak any Spanish; however, they know the numbers and the names of the drink. Remember, this is quick and easy. Don't make it more difficult than...
