My boyfriend and I went to this restaurant last night (Monday, July 18th) around 8:00pm for dinner and drinks and the bartender made it very clear that she did not enjoy serving African American customers. When we arrived the hostess was very kind and told us we could sit anywhere we liked so we selected to sit at the bar. When we sat down at the bar it was obvious that another customer had just left because the check was still in place and there was food and water on the bar. The bartender (BAR 1919) came over to greet us a few minutes after sitting down and provided us with a menu and told us to let her know when we were ready to order. She took the previous customers check but never wiped the bar down, welcomed us to the restaurant, or gave us any information regarding the food or cocktail menus. She came back a few minutes later to take our drink orders and when my boyfriend attempted to select two beer options she told him they were out so he asked for some additional time to select another beer. She took my order prepared it and brought it back but never followed up with him regarding his order. A young man walked up to the bar, read the menu, ordered his drink, and paid and she never follow up with us. A woman walked up to the bar, sat down, ordered her drink/food, paid and we still did not follow up. She checked in on another customer that had been sitting at the bar prior to our arrival and she made them another round of drinks and she still did not follow up. It was not until she saw my boyfriend walk out and I grabbed my purse and put the card on the counter that she came over and ask if he had made a decision regarding his drink. I explained to her that he waited more than 15 minutes for her to come back and get his order and we were leaving because of the poor service. She never once apologized or even showed any concern regarding us leaving because of her lack of attentiveness. If this restaurant does not welcome or enjoy having African American customers in the restaurant I would prefer they just say it upfront instead of the level of disrespect, poor service, and attitude that we received last night. I spent $15.00 on a drink that was poorly made and watered down because the bartender really did not want us as her customers. I am sure you know I will NEVER EVER go back to this bar and certainly wouldn’t recommend...
Read moreLet me start this off by saying the place looked really nice, nice interior, good crowd, and seemed like a good place to hang out at. However...management sucks. We were sitting at the couches around this table and my boyfriend saw a cockroach crawl across the table. Now just so you know this wasn’t an outdoor cockroach. This one was the small ones that you get from not cleaning...He literally caught it under the vase that was on the table and asked to speak to a manager. We were doing this because we have worked in the restaurant industry and we know what it’s like and figured the manager would want to know. So she comes over (and at first I wasn’t even sure she was a manager because she was dressed down more than the guests, which I would expect the manager to be dressed a little more professionally you know?) and we literally show her the live cockroach. I also want to point out that one crawled on our seat too...we explain the whole situation and were being really nice about it, from one restaurant employee to another. And she literally just looks at us with no emotion and says: oh okay yeah, I understand. Yes I understand, and then makes a statement about outdoor cockroaches and saying you know it happens, when we kept on telling her that no you don’t understand, this one is an indoor one.. and after that she just kept on nodding and saying yes, I understand and then finished it off with is there anything else I can help you with?...like what?? I would at least expect an: I’m sorry, this is so embarrassing we are going to see where this is coming from and address the situation. But nope, just an okay I understand. I mean she looked like a teenager. It didn’t feel like there was any sort of management there. And when there is one cockroach there are usually more and this place just opened up! Surprisingly it wasn’t the cockroach that bothered me, but just how the manager dealt with the Situation. Very...
Read moreThe restaurant is very beautiful and clean. Theres was someone on point with refilling our water in this hot weather. I can say the chairs were kinda uncomfortable on the back, I think i messed up having the girls sit in the bench and us on the chairs. But it wasnt a big deal. We started w dynamite shrimp that was perfect. Sweet and spice balanced perfectly! Cinnamonroll ws delicious. It had lemon zest and safe on top of their creamy icing. I couldnt stop eating it but didnt want to get full. I ordered the lobster eggs benedict. It was good but nothing out of this world. Maybe adding lemon butter would have knocked it out..my papa bravas, my hubs and daughters tasted bitter.. my other daughter ordered the stuffed french, Bread had great texture, but I should’ve asked how they make their berry compote because I dont know if they added too much vanilla extract or what but that made it sour and bitter. She ended up leaving it. I tried it & figured out why she didnt care to finish it, and she loves french toast.😬 I also had a pineapple/mango mimosa but sadly didnt receive and pretty garnish like my neighbors did in theirs. I think if you paying for a service like everyone else one should be mindful. Just an observation, I didnt want to say anything right then. I was surprised by a birthday platter and appreciate that gesture as they went out of their way to do that. Even the manager or owner(I didnt ask) came to check in with us to see if everything was ok and treated us like family. As I conclude, I have to now take this time to brag and give a fair shoutout to our server Ms Deija! She went above and beyond and provided excellent hospitality from the start to the end! Thank you for making our experience grand and making my 40th feel extra . 🩷 I still want to give it another try for dinner and show up with my...
