Reviews brought me to the place. Got out of there disappointed. Quality doesn’t justifies the prices.
Appetizers were okay… we ordered steamed and fried Dumplings that didn’t offer anything out of the extraordinary. Egg Drop soup that was acceptable. Chicken Springrolls that Id give a 3 out of 10.
My girlfriend ordered a Sweet and Sour w Chicken that wasn’t even at the level of an order of McNuggets, dry deep fried chicken made with no love and serve with lettuce and carrots and a horrible rice (she asked for the brown rice, no love At all). Sauce was Ok.
I ordered a Chicken Pho that has a 5 out of 10. There are way better Pho places in Houston. Have a few on my older reviews. Expected much more of place that has “Vietnam” implied in the name and has acceptable number of good reviews.
Service wasn’t excellent but not bad either, waiter improved his attitude toward us during our meal, he didn’t look too happy to see us at the beginning and then took long time (around 15 min) to come back after we told him we weren’t ready to order yet. He later changed his demeanor completely to a very polite and nice style of server. Not sure if he noticed we were kinda uncomfortable with his behavior.
Environment of the place is cool and nice, site has potential, just need to put way more effort on details.
I was intrigued about some dishes, like the duck, the seafood and several other stuff on he Menu that look interesting but not sure if coming back or would...
Read moreStopped in for the first time today after driving by it. I was excited to hear they have a vegan pho broth and since that’s kind of tricky to find, I was really really stoked to try this place. I was pretty confused when I walked in and it was much nicer than I realized (a fish tank upon entry and very nice seating) and even more confused when I saw the TV’s were showing UFC fight highlights. An odd combo but I decided to roll with it. Some of the best food in houston is served in somewhat odd settings. Upon being seated, I looked at the menu and was blown away to find that their “lunch potion” of vegetable pho was $17. At that point I was already seated and didn’t want to walk out but for perspective vegetable pho at my normal favorite place is $8 for the XL bowl. I ordered it and the server was kind enough to bring me a tofu spring roll which comes with the vegetable pho when you order it. The tofu spring roll was flavorless and the peanut dipping sauce had an odd taste and was served warm- not my preference. It took quite a while for my pho to come out but when it finally did, It was underwhelming. Even with lime juice, jalepeno, cilantro, basil, and a ridiculous amount of sriracha, it was incredibly bland. Maybe their omnivorous options are better but I’m super bummed that I spent over $20 with tip (on such a disappointing lunch. Two stars for the super...
Read moreMUST READ, MUST READ. Very nice environment, friendly people, and great food. The Vietopia family is always willing to adjust and modify my order to my liking. I highly recommend getting their wings, spicy or covered in orange sauce. The basil fries extra crispy are addicting. And the steak is very underrated, the steak is a most try. I don’t know how a place like this has steaks to this degree. Every time I order pho I get whatever i feel like having that day and they don’t miss, they just don’t miss. I get glass noodles and add spinach with Thai peppers, you can get from a three-meat special to just a side of broth with some shrimp. Avocado shrimp, and mango chicken rolls are a hidden refreshing treasure at the V. Get spicy soft shell or snow crab fried rice for some zesty flavorful style in your life, thank me later. Other things to try are the, Vietnamese style shrimp with mayo sauce on the side, short ribs, and flaming chicken extra spicy, and lobster served with garlic parmesan pasta. Not everything is listed on their menu. The V has adjusted to every season of my lifestyle. They have given me a nice quite soothing place where I can study and drink tea, adjusting my diet for my triathlon prep, pigging out and watching the game at the bar and even reservations for small gathering and celebrations. Just ask and they will always adjust and modify to what your...
