We have frequented this restaurant for years due to great food and especially their ability to provide gluten free pasta as well as other gluten free entrees for a family member with Celiac Disease (i.e. wheat gluten allergy). Unfortunately, we have had issues with our last few takeout orders that suggest an endemic lack of training concerning food allergies or at the very least an indifference to the seriousness associated with them. When you specify "must be gluten free" and specifically state "no croutons" in the salad, you don't expect to open salad container and find buns thrown in with salad. This wasn't a one-off as it happened the last two takeout orders we placed. If they can't get this correct then what else is possible. Even putting bread or croutons in a salad, catching the mistake and picking them out will most likely still result in cross-contamination and illicit an allergic reaction. People with food allergies take great risk entrusting establishments that offer "alternatives" for those with allergies and assume that protocols and adequate training measures are in place. We will now struggle with this concern and have to decide if our consumer dollars are better spent at more trustworthy establishments. In all fairness. I didn't contact the restaurant directly, as we placed our order through Slice and i had to contact them directly to credit the bill for an order change due to item availability at restaurant and also told them about our concern with bread in salad container. They said they informed the restaurant and restaurant Reply was there was nothing to do about it. Perhaps an apology would have been a nice touch, or some effort to follow-up with our concerns.

Salvatore's is a store front location in a strip mall. Easily seen from the road and there is plenty of signage. Moderate crowd for a Wed night. When seated at a bar area table we were given three separate menus. I get that restaurants want to update their menus without printing all new but 3 menus is silly. There was a bit of a wait for a server but when she arrived she was friendly. Pet peeve: raspberry tea is not iced tea. Don't offer iced tea and bring some fruit drink. We placed our orders and bread and Ceasars Salad arrived quickly. The salad was a plate of lettuce with dressing in a cup. The garlic rolls and pizza bread was fresh but the pizza bread was cold. The entrees arrived promptly. Large portions. Hot. Very flavorful. We were happy with both and took home lunch sized leftovers. Wouldn't hesitate to go back. Update: excellent meal. Strong service. Simple menu. They are getting that 5th star. UPDATE 7/23: An early dinner so no crowd and immediate seating. No major menu changes. A separate steak menu was new. Portions still large. Food served hot. Salvatore's is still a solid choice.

*EDITED We decided to give it another go. This time we ordered curbside pickup, through the toast app. We are familiar with the app so that was okay.

Our order was due at 7:32 pm. We parked and called to let them know we were in the parking spot, per the instructions. OK we will be right out was the response. 10 mins later nothing. I called again to see what was up told them exactly again where we were parked. Another 5 minutes passed. Girl came out with credit card machine....I said we paid online? She's like oh it looks like you pay, but it actually doesn't go through. Huh? I have never had that experience but ok...we paid (again) and went on our way.

Once home and unpacking things one of our apps were missing. I promptly called I was not going out again. I guess the manager claimed he will credit the missing item. Nothing really in the way of apology. I'm so done. I love supporting local business, but unfortunately they have failed in all aspects a little too many times.

We will definitely be checking the bank statement. I don't feel confident that we didn't get double charged or we will actually get a refund for the missing item. We won't be back again. *

Being newer to the area we are trying some local spots. We have tried Salvatore's four times now. Two take outs and two dine ins. Our first take out things like salads that come with meals were missing, but they claimed that was an error with the ordering app. Meals were good so we gave it another go. Next time everything was there.

Our first dine experience was at the end of October, on a Friday and everything went great.

We dined in last night for my birthday, A Monday. We were seated promptly. Received drinks quickly. We ordered apps and fries for the kids to share, asked for fries to come out ASAP but came out with apps which maybe was taking a little long but whatever it happens. We ordered baked ziti, cavatelli portabella. Pizza and kids pasta for our mains.

From the time our apps were finished to the time the actual meals were delivered almost 40 minutes passed. We were chatting for a bit and then it just seemed like it was taking a bit long, then definitely taking long. I could see our server going back and forth to the kitchen obviously checking but nothing. I know I probably should have flagged her down but didn't want to be that person you know.

By the time meals came we needed boxes cause it was already 8pm (we were seated at 6:00) and our kids were over it and so we asked for the check.

We did take a few bites or our entrees while we waited to be cashed out. I don't know if it was cause of the long wait, the irritation with that wait or what but the meals were off as well. My son(age 9) did have a slice of his pizza and he said nope to it, even though it was the same exact thing he got last time and gobbled it up. My chicken was very tough and I think there were max two shrimp in the whole meal.

It's unfortunate cause I thought we found a great place we all could enjoy but with it being so hit or miss, I don't feel like we...

I started using Salvatores due to their quality of Alfredo. Since the beginning when we started ordering their Alfredo because it was just as good (and not a bowl full of butter) reheated as is was fresh we we very satisfied with their food. The noodles had plenty of sauce on them and everything else we ordered on the salads and desserts were always fresh and the order was filled correctly. The last three times we’ve ordered my husbands salad didn’t have all the items omitted from them that we requested so he couldn’t eat the salad or the bread. You can’t pick pepper juice or onion flavor off of the salad or the soggy bread rolls. I had to start ordering the Alfredo dinners several meals ago by asking for plenty of sauce because the previous couple of meals barely had any sauce on them unlike they did when we first started getting food from Salvatores. On Wednesday we ordered a shrimp Alfredo (shrimp on the side, which was only 4 little shrimps) and a kids manicotti with Alfredo sauce instead of marinara. I again asked for plenty of sauce on both meals. The bill ended up getting increased twice. It went from $44.00 to $49.25 due to me asking for plenty of sauce they ended up sending and unexpectedly charged me for a small side of sauce plus as I expected I had to pay extra for the Alfredo on the manicotti. The problem isn’t the extra charge so much. It’s the fact that my husband had to throw his salad and bread away again because it was covered in peppers and pepper juice which again made the bread soggy with pepper juice. But the worst part is the Alfredo was so salty it was inedible itself. He ate his four shrimp and forced part of the Alfredo down due to being so hungry and the grandson wouldn’t even eat the manicotti because it was so terribly salty. I even tried to eat some to keep from wasting our money but I couldn’t stand the saltiness. So we basically wasted almost $50 for throwing food away and what will now be THE LAST meal we order from there anymore. I can’t keep paying premium prices to throw away salads and meals that aren’t made according to the very well explained directions on your site for additional directions with each meal and greasy, extremely salty Alfredo that’s not edible. Look on DoorDash site. We usually order from you once a week. Janet...

Want to first start by saying that I love Salvatore’s. I don’t live in the area anymore & love going when I am in town . Last night had a not so great experience - mostly concerning service . We sat at a table in the bar area - were seated promptly & were told that place settings would be brought right over. Server showed up a few minutes later to take drink orders & when she saw that we didn’t have silverware said ā€˜these hosts have one job - to seat people & bring them silverware!’ I own a restaurant & if one of my staff said something like this about their coworkers to a customer, I would be furious . She said she would bring some right over …. Few minutes later appetizers came out - no silverware, no waitress. We waited - still nothing . I had to get up & find someone to bring silverware - finally 10 minutes after food was dropped did we get our utensils . When our entrees came out there was literally no room on the table - the waitress complained how she hated the tables but made no effort to help situate the table so there was room . Additionally my mom received the wrong entree - she had already started eating it when the waitress came over - my mom didn’t want to waste it so she said she’d keep it & the waitress said she would pack up the eggplant she had ordered to go for her instead . We were still eating when we were asked if we wanted to go boxes - we were eventually going to need them but geez we were still eating ! Boxes were dropped on the already crowded small table while still trying to enjoy our meal ! Then she asked if we were ready for the check & dropped it! I felt rushed & not taken care of at all - mind you this was a Sunday night at 6pm - they don’t close until 8 so it’s not like we went in there last minute . The waitress never packed the eggplant to go & never mentioned it again . We were embarrassed to even ask so paid the bill & left . Food is always great here but service really feel short this time - should have sat at the bar where the service is...
