This is a little hidden gem in Howland. I had been eyeballing it for a while so we decided to come in for a girls date. Our server was awesome. I ordered a drink at first that just wasn’t my thing, and that was of no fault of the bartender I just stepped outside of what I usually go for and the bourbon as I should have expected tasted like old leather. The server was so nice about it and made me feel less bad about sending it back. I ended up drinking my friends sangria instead and she ordered a different drink too. Our food was great! The truffle fries appetizer hit the spot. I had the salmon stir fry and my friend got the burger. Both were delicious. We ended our lunch by splitting a brownie sundae. The brownie was gooey and perfect. I feel like you can truly tell how good a restaurant is by how they take care of their restroom areas. This place is selfie ready! The bathroom wallpaper is friggin adorable and I’ll spare you guys all the selfies, but please note I took probably 50 pictures in there because it was so cute. In my experience every time I’ve gone somewhere and the bathrooms nice you will never walk out of there unimpressed. The owners take pride in every facet of the business and I take NOTE, too. I’ve sent a few friends in since I visited in the beginning of May. I’ll definitely be back to try out more of the menu soon!

Absolutely obsessed—Barrel 33 is a must-visit! From the moment I walked in, the atmosphere was relaxed but elevated—the perfect mix of cozy and cool. The service was friendly, fast, and genuinely welcoming. I ordered the Blueberry Lemon Drop Martini, and it was hands down one of the best cocktails I’ve ever had. Just the right balance of sweet and tart, and so refreshing. The Hangover Burger was everything you want in comfort food—juicy, flavorful, and stacked with all the good stuff. Total perfection. Barrel 33 knows how to do it right—amazing food, incredible drinks, and a vibe that makes you want to stay all night. I’ll absolutely be back!

First time visiting, so I can’t compare the old vs new ownership, but I definitely enjoyed myself. Mike and the other gentleman bartender made me feel welcome, both were super attentive and they crafted great cocktails. My food was pretty tasty and the vibe was nice inside. John the owner came out and introduced himself and made sure I was enjoying myself. Very nice guy. I live in Boardman, but will definitely be back soon!

Can say nothing good, wasn't able to try the food as they refused payment with a barrel 33 gift card. Of course, if you won't honor your gift cards, I won't be paying for my meal with real cash instead.

Cashier was instructed to make some lame excuse about new owners, clearly wasn't the first time she had to turn someone down, and I didn't make a fuss with her because she had no control. New owners shouldn't matter, years ago, barrel 33 took money to buy a gift card (in exchange for a promise to provide services in the future), sat on it for years as menu prices increased and inflation happened and now they refuse to even honor the original value of the money given to barrel 33 the company.

New owner, shame on you, you took over an existing restaurant. You took over the good will and prestige and hard work of the prior owners years of providing good service, and you now trade on their name a name you didn't build up in our community, a name you merely purchased, and if you were a semi competent business owner, or if you went through a business lawyer they would have adjusted the purchase price based on outstanding debts (such as gift cards) and assets such as equipment and inventory on hand.

Upon purchasing an established business, You also inherited/took on those minor debts such as ~$48 in gift cards in my possession, and probably a couple thousand worth of other unredeemed gift cards in the hands of other members of the Howland community, hardworking people who gave their money (interest free and with no compensation for inflation) to barrel 33, they trusted barrel 33 to be there and provide that service in the future, by refusing gift cards issued by prior owner you are spitting in the face of that trust given to barrel 33 by the Howlan d community. Not cool. I suspect this review may turn off at least 1 or 2 customers who might have spent way more than 48 bucks there, and I hope they also leave reviews on why they chose not to support barrel 33...

Barrel 33: A Mixed Bag

Our dinner at Barrel 33 in Howland, Ohio, was a bit of a rollercoaster. The appetizer round was a highlight, with the Asian cauliflower bites and chicken wings impressing us. However, the buffalo chicken bites and hot pepper in oil fell short of our expectations.

Unfortunately, the main courses weren't as satisfying. The pork Mac and cheese and barbecue burgers received lukewarm reviews from our group. It seemed like a missed opportunity for such a promising start.

On a brighter note, the dessert was an absolute showstopper. The cinnamon sugar pretzel, topped with icing, chocolate strawberries, whipped cream, and blueberries, was a decadent and unforgettable treat. It was undoubtedly the best part of our meal.

While the appetizers were a strong point, the main courses and a couple of appetizers left something to be desired. The dessert, however, redeemed the experience to a...
