Butcher & Barrel in Huntingburg, IN is an extraordinary find that shatters expectations. My son, working a one-month stint in Jasperâa town with even fewer dining options than Evansvilleâwas recommended this gem by his preceptor as a standout alternative to Jasperâs fare. Weâve returned multiple times since, and it never disappoints. The shrimp and grit cakes burst with rich, savory flavor, the french airline chicken rivals the finest big-city restaurants, and the craft cocktails are masterfully crafted. Astonishingly high-caliber for such a small town, the exceptional wait staffâsome even from Orange County and South Floridaâdelivers warm, attentive service with a personal touch. Every detail, from execution to presentation to the thoughtfully curated decor in the historic bank building, creates a charming, unforgettable dining experience. Being seated in the vault added a thrilling, unique flair. With its outstanding cuisine and welcoming team, Butcher & Barrel easily ranks among the top three restaurants within a 50-mile radius of Evansville, IN. An absolute...
Read moreMy husband and I celebrated our wedding anniversary here last night and we are extremely impressed to say the least! You walk in the door and immediately forget youâre in small-town Indiana.
The atmosphere is unlike any restaurant in the area. The renovations they did with the old bank accentuates the beautiful detail and history of the old building AND we even got a specialty seat in the vault đ
Now letâs move on to the best partâŠthe food and drink!!! I had an espresso martini and it was easily the best martini iâve tasted. We ordered bread and deviled eggs for appetizers, new york strips and baked potatoes for entrees and a crĂšme brĂ»lĂ©e alongside their seasonal blueberry spice sorbet.
Our waitress Cheryl was beyond knowledgeable on the food, drink, and buildings unique history. She was a joy to be served by and we absolutely will ask for her every time we come!
So, if you have been eyeballing Butcher & Barrel, this is your sign to make a reservation ASAP and make sure you ask for...
Read moreThis place gives off vibes that ownership/management has low expectations for service. For a $125 meal for two people, the food was not warm, and my steak wasnt cooked properly. There are 4-5 service workers standing to deliver food and I receive cold food? We were never asked about our food quality until im assuming who was the the owner or manager, asked how it was. By that time we were leaving. The waiter apoligized for taking too long for services because he said they were busy. Sorry but if you're gonna take reservations, and you're gonna expect 15% tip on this bill, thats not an excuse. Ordered a beer from the bar and the bartender took about 15 minutes to make a beer. This place has a great atmosphere but first impression of service was not impressive. A high end restaurant should be expected to provide high end service and most of all, consistent service. I did love the atmosphere....
