Awful "veal" dishes - salty shoe leather.
Imagine ordering "Bistecca Alla Palermitana". It's a simple dish - thin veal, breaded, lightly salted and flash fried in olive oil until barely done, topped with a little garlic, basil and tomatoes. Delicious, if cooked with just a little care.
It comes and the plate is sparsely covered with a few pieces of sliced carrot, 2 broccoli flowers and the "veal" which is maybe 1/8" thick breaded. Yup, there's more food in a quarter pounder.
You take your first bite and OMG it's sooo over-cooked and salty. Was the cook drunk and mistook this for a 1.25" New York steak that needed to be well done? Unlikely since there's zero filets on the menu. Veal's tender right? You're pretty sure it's not even veal, but it's impossible to tell.
This is three times now, so it's hard to believe it's an accident. Yea, we don't eat a Mangia Mangia that often and usually get seafood. And we were with friends or I would have sent it back.
Love the seafood pasta and garlic bread. The Frutti Di Mare and Rigattoni Alla Siciliana are favorites.
But stay away from the "Veal" dishes. The Bistecca Alla Palermitana in...
Read moreThe place is small and cozy. I was greated with a warm smile. Right away was seated and offered drinks by my server, Lucy. The wine list looked delicious but I drove there and that means no alcohol for me. My companions chose not to drink but we had coffee. YUUUMMMMY! The coffe was amazing... it had a true roasted taste yet was not overbearing.... 🤤 The food I ordered and the ones my family ordered all had a super comfort homemade food flavor... Even my child said it was delicious AND ate a WHOLE meal; she has only finished a whole adult meal when eating out 1 or 2 times in her life. Everyone ate everything. It was awesome. The dessert was scrumptious... the best tiramisu yet. 🤤🤤🤤🤤🤤
** Forgot to mentioned I tried this place because an traveler working here for Disneyland was the one that mentioned this place as true Italian. He was here for 3 weeks and still had 2 months before going back to Italy. So, this was his to go place when in need of good Italian taste. I am not Italian but boy when it is homemade you can taste...
Read moreMangia Mangia has been one of our go-to spots for years, and it’s never let us down. We've been here many times and not once have we had a dish that missed the mark. The food is consistently excellent — especially the seafood, which is always fresh and cooked just right.
Service is always solid. The staff is friendly and attentive, making sure everything runs smoothly without feeling intrusive. The vibe is relaxed and welcoming, perfect whether you're with family, on a date, or out with friends.
The unlimited garlic bread deserves its own mention — warm, fresh, and way too easy to eat a lot of. It’s hard not to fill up on it before the main course.
Portions are generous, so you definitely get your money’s worth, and the pricing is more than fair for what you’re getting.
Another plus: parking is never a hassle since there's a private lot in the plaza. It’s convenient and makes the whole experience that much easier.
Mangia Mangia is a true local gem — low-key, reliable, and always satisfying....
