Sango Sushi — Restaurant in Huntington Beach

I have eaten here for YEARS. My office is right around the corner and while this is a 'budget' place, I have always found it a good value.

Today I went and placed my usual order, the tuna was clearly 'past it's prime' -it was sour. I was bummed, and took it back. I had experienced this once or twice with them, but always just moved on. By the time I got back there this day, the sushi had little bubbles on it so it was clearly no good. No question - anyone that would eat that gonna get sick. probably really sick. At that point, I wasn't really feeling like sushi anymore (I ate that one sour piece....) so I thought tempura might be a good easy exchange for them ($3 tempura for $7 sushi). I was surprised when the girl behind the counter said she could not help me; that she wasn't sure I actually bought the sushi from them (I was there just 50 minutes earlier, btw!). I pointed out that the sushi container was identical to the containers they use. Coincidental yes, but that would not suffice for her. I showed her my phone history, with a call to their restaurant 50 minutes earlier (a call that last 3 minutes 11 seconds, btw). That would not suffice for her. I asked her to look at her credit card receipts - she said they had already "been taken away". I was so surprised, so disappointed. I pleaded but they made it clear what my business means to them. I checked my credit card history......In 9 years I've spent $15,233.21...

I don't know what happened to this place. I used to go there for years and always enjoyed the food even though the service was not the best. My husband and I went there today and ordered veggie bowl to go. They had a sign inside saying that the maximum occupancy was 4 people. There was no one inside but they told us to wait outside. We told them if we waited outside we would not be able to hear when they called us, but they said "wait outside!" We waited outside and as we expected they called us from inside, with the door closed and of course we could not hear. Wouldn't that make more sense if they either allowed us to wait inside with more than 6 feet away from anyone that would come in or if they went outside and called our names? When we ate the food at home I thought I had lost my sense of taste. The food had no salt and no taste. I don't think we will be back there. Let's explore...

We have been going here for almost 2 years. Fish is always excellent. Staff is polite. Reasonably priced for what you get we believe. Recommend the Bento box or Orental set on their menu as they each have an assortment of different items. Commonly we order the Tempura and sushi combo (sushi I believe is tuna, salmon, white fish and 4 pc .CA roll), Combo A (sushi assortment with 8 pc CA roll) and poke bowl. We have ordered other items and all is good in our opinion. Picture is Combo A with a Rainbow roll. They typically will bring you chopsticks and fork for boxes and plate combos. They also have free cold water available or a soda and tea selection. One rest room on the side down a hall and is always clean. They have a child menu option but I am not sure of the contents. Big screen tv that is usually playing a sports game and is muted. Music...
