I have been going to TK Burger since the early 80s when Robert opened it in Newport Beach. The part of the experience was watching him put your patty on the grill and watched the flames char your burger to perfection. It usually took about 10 minutes to get your meal because it was always cooked fresh. Then TK came to HB in the 90s, I was stoked a great burger in HB. Anyway, I moved out of the country in 2002 and recently returned. I was so stoked TK was still there. I had to eat there again. When I arrived I was greeted by a pretty girl who took my order. I paid for my food and began looking at the old surf photos that are on the wall. Within one minute my food was bagged and ready to go. I looked at the cook who was totally lazy sitting on his stool. Then I noticed all the pre cooked burgers sitting at the edge of the grill. Robert would have never done that and I do believe if the owner caught him doing that he wouldn't be too happy. If you plan on visiting TK Burger in HB, make sure and ask for a freshly grilled burger. I know I will if I decide to try...
Read moreMy wife and I stopped in for burgers a few days ago, and not only was the place disgusting, but they also appeared to have altered my receipt to get more money. We were in there for 30 minutes, and I didn't see a single worker wash their hands. California food handling laws state that food items that aren't cooked must be handled with gloves. The cool went from cooking raw meat to touching buns and produce with bare hands. That's cross-contamination. Secondly, food is not to be eaten in the kitchen, yet the cashier was standing around eating fries at the counter. The tables were dirty, the special sauce was empty. Lastly, several days after my visit I was charged $30. I paid menu price for the burger bargain, one LG drink, onion ring, and a cheeseburger. I didn't tip for obvious reasons. Yet, I was charged $30. It's obvious that my receipt was modified. Fortunately, I disputed it with my financial institution and was awarded the money back. Avoid this dirty, unethical place. If you do...
Read moreUsed to be my go to 2x a month after work when i felt too tired to cook after a day's work. We've been coming to tk in NB and mostly HB as we live here now but over the past decade, tk has changed a lot. Its not the same anymore. Their chicken sandwich is no longer a full breast size, now they slice the breast in half maybe even 1/3 and pound it SOOO thin, u can taste a hint of chicken but its mostly bread & lettuce flavor! Their burgers are also much thinner now and most of the time dry, ud have to get double or triple patties to taste the meat! Their onion rings are always burnt and flimsy. If you're lucky to get a fresh batch, it will be delicious and crispy, but that's 50/50 chance you're taking. Im tired of spending $60+ twice a month from this joint for my family of 4 and to just regret not cooking instead.... used to love tk. Now, its sadly only 2...
