Chips and Salsa, Ceviche, and the Fish Tacos are great. The menu is large with lots of options and the marguerita options are interesting albeit a bit pricey. The service on our visit unfortunately was not om par with the food. There were several issues for us that day but the ones that stand out to me were the delay in seating us despite plenty of open tables, maybe parties of 5 just have to wait on basic principle? Upon seating from the hostess, our waiter was at tableside taking our drink orders and passing out Menus. So far so good. We had rented bicycles in Newport and made our way to the restaurant so we needed the rest and refreshments as we were all thirsty. We asked for waters for everyone and I asked for a new glass right away upon sitting down, as mine was not clean. I did not get one until the third time seeing our waiter and only upon finally getting my glass, which came half way through the meal, did I remind him that he had never brought any water for us to fill the glasses with. We got the drink orders before any water. I also had to steal the silverware off another table when we realized the table was short one set, which matched the number of menus we got +1. Yup 2 of us had to share menus. Lastly, when all were done and good to go, knowing we had to bike back to Newport, we had to get someone else to find our waiter for a check. I don't want to bash this place entirely on one experience but for a place that is in such and obscure location and with the price point, the service really should be a higher consideration. I won't go out of my way to go back but if it close to you I do recommend their food. It is too bad, we got the service that came along with it. We spent about $250 for lunch. Can we get a clean glass...
Read moreI had a wonderful experience at Ola Mexican Kitchen with my family. We were looking for a place with a nice view and we found this gem on the beach. The restaurant is cozy and inviting, and the staff is friendly and attentive. They gave us some great recommendations for food and drinks.
We ordered four tacos: Baja Fish, Blackened Shrimp, Pork Belly, and Taco of the Month. The Baja Fish taco had crispy beer-battered cod, cabbage slaw, pico de gallo, and chipotle aioli. It was light and crunchy. The Blackened Shrimp taco had spicy grilled shrimp, mango salsa, avocado, and cilantro lime crema. It was sweet and tangy. The Pork Belly taco had braised pork belly, pickled red onion, cilantro, and salsa verde. It was crispy, tender, and flavorful. The Taco of the Month was a special creation that changes every month. When we went, it was a birria taco with tender beef stewed in a rich broth, melted cheese, onion, cilantro, and a side of consomé for dipping. It was savory and satisfying.
The Baja Fish Burrito was also very good, with fresh fish, rice, beans, cheese, lettuce, pico de gallo, and creamy sauce. It was wrapped in a warm flour tortilla and served with chips and salsa. The portions were generous and satisfying.
I also enjoyed the Phantom Bride IPA, which was one of the many beers they have on tap. They let me sample a few before I decided, which I appreciated. The beer was hoppy, citrusy, and refreshing.
The best part of the meal was the view. We had a table by the window and we could see the ocean and the sunset. It was breathtaking and romantic. We felt like we were on vacation.

Read moreMy wife and I are locals so this historically has been a regular spot until now. Last night we went to the bar for drinks and food. My wife specifically ordered a drink without sweet and sour. The bartender insisted it was not in the drink but she could taste it. Then he asked us if we wanted food and we said yes. He asked us to give him a minute. Then two young ladies sat down next to us. He directed all of his attention to them and never came back to take our order. We decided to cash out and go sit at a table. He cashed us out and said nothing about not taking our order. Then we sat down and ordered food. I got the fish tacos and my wife got the lobster. The fish tacos were bad. I only ate one and put the other one to the side untouched. I went to the restroom and when I came back the taco was gone and the bill was there. Rather than going down the road of telling the waiter the tacos were bad when they were already gone, I paid the bill and wrote on the receipt “The tacos sucked”. The waiter came back and said he read my note and he was sorry. That’s it, he didn’t get a manager involved or say anything about taking an untouched taco away without questioning it. This is terrible management, this company should have a policy to make sure people are happy. This is common in the industry but clearly this company doesn’t care and for that, I will never go back and I will tell my family and friends to...
