My biggest job yet! It was an honor to get to contribute to Good Company Cafe’s 7th birthday celebration. 🥳 🍳🌈 #brunchlocal #huntsvillealabama #brunch #art #mural

First off, Good Company Cafe is operated by the most lovely group of people. My husband and I scheduled a cake tasting in September. The experience was so fun, personable and unforgettable!! Angela figured out exactly the style we were looking for and made suggestions that fit our taste. We left with big smiles and tons of excitement for our special day to come. We decided to have Good Company Cafe cater brunch the morning of our wedding and the desserts and cake for our wedding on Oct.5th. We had the quiche platter, and chatcuterie platters. They were all beautifully plated and tasted amazing. I ate things I have never eaten before (like peppadu peppers YUM). My bridesmaids and I have never felt so fancy!!! For our cake, we had an almond cake with Earl Grey buttercream frosting and berry filling. The cake was absolutely delicious and so beautifully decorated. Our wedding guests enjoyed pistachio macaroons, pumpkin cheesecake bites with pretzel crust, melon skewers, and espresso truffles. Everyone loved the desserts and there was nothing left at the end of the night. Thank you Good Company Cafe for providing outstanding service and delicious food. Customers for life ♡

The carbs are certainly delicious! We enjoyed the unique localness of this cafe, and also took some things home. My daughter with particular taste didn’t like the egg sandwich she first ordered and opted instead for the kids grilled cheese. Most offerings are temptingly high in carbs/sugar. I went with the veggie frittata, which is also served with bread, and a delightfully sweetened butter. But that’s par for the foods that are popular for the customer base in this region. The bakery items smell wonderful and are sharable-sized. Encountered two of my pet peeves this visit —one is being hit with a waft of marijuana just outside the door (but that’s outside of the restaurant’s control), the other is old fruit. If a place can’t offer good fruit that is still crisp (freshly washed and cut that day), don’t offer it at all. There are other options that keep better and require less prep. Fruits are expensive and you can imagine they were sooo good when they were freshly washed—so it feels like an unfortunate slight against Mother Nature when served last night’s soft blueberries, waterlogged grapes, and rubbery watermelon; it just goes to the waste bin.

I've been here a couple times and I have mixed reviews. Pros *The place is really cute and the people working are very nice. *They do cheesecake really well. I've had a mixed berry cheesecake bite and a smores one and both were wonderful. *Their strawberry pretzel salad was really great too

Things I didn't like *My first trip there I ordered 3 things (cheesecake bite, strawberry pretzel salad and a raspberry cream cheese brioche roll) the total was about $10. Later I followed them on Instagram and saw they do pastry boxes where you get 6 items for $15. I would have definitely added 3 more items for $5 if I had known. The girl should have mentioned it maybe. Or they should ask if you've been there before and if you say no they can tell you about that deal. *I didn't like the brioche roll thing I got. I guess I was imagining it being like a Danish but it wasn't very sweet. Maybe I dont know what brioche actually is. It seemed stale but again maybe that is just the way brioche is. Also there wasn't much of the raspberry cream cheese filling so a lot of it was just stale tasting bread. *I also tried a kitchen sink cookie and ended up throwing it out. I think there is so much going on in it it ends up being overly sweet and not tasting much like anything. It was very sticky and so chewy that my jaw hurt from having to chew it so much.

The first time I came here I drove out of my way specifically to come here and try it out. The second time I was out that way and decided to pop in and try some other items. I dont think I would make a special trip just to come here again, but if I was out that way again I might stop in to see what they have. It is kind of just hit or miss depending on...

I believe this place has great potential and laud the efforts of the crew, but the place is a mixed bag of very good with some not-quite-right wrinkles.

The food was tasty and they have selections that can accommodate anyone. ‘Gluten friendly’ is one term I thought was clever. Vegetarians will find what they need and meat-eaters can find a dish or two. The interior atmosphere reminds me of a small-town New England shoppe and the service is attentive and nice.

Why not five stars? I had the salmon and savory cream cheese dish on a flat of toast. For $11, there wasn’t much there. Half of a small plate. Now, for locally sourced ingredients and quality salmon, that may be what it costs for them to stay in business, but I won’t be ordering it, again. Further, the toast was so crunchy that I had to eat it carefully. When I tried to cut the crust, I actually had to use the point of the knife to chop it. Now, once I got a bite-sized bit on a fork, it proved tasty. By wife got the pimento cheese sandwich and told me the crispiness of the bread was uncomfortable to chew.

Now, if you went for a salad, and they all looked good, you avoid the above problem, and this excessive crispiness may be a transient matter. In any event, should we ever go back, it will...
